Jung wrote about what he called the tension of opposites—the uncomfortable space between two competing truths.
We often assume growth happens when we finally make a decision, choose a side, or find the answer.
But sometimes transformation asks something different of us.
Sometimes we’re called to hold the tension between:
* freedom and belonging
* rest and ambition
* security and adventure
* who we’ve been and who we’re becoming
Most of us want to escape that in-between space as quickly as possible. We want clarity. Resolution. Certainty.
Yet some of life’s most meaningful changes seem to emerge not from forcing an answer, but from staying present to the question.
Perhaps the goal isn’t to eliminate the tension.
Perhaps the goal is to become spacious enough to hold it.💙
