So proud and honored to work with adoptees like Soumi ♡

Watching her move from isolating with her pain to allowing herself to feel it, make space for her little self, and embrace more of who she is deeply moved me.

She began to feel that her grief, joy, pain, purpose, and identity could all have a place within her.

I’ll share her words with you soon. ♡

Warmly, Sun Mee.

“I felt calm because I trusted that I was heard, seen, and felt.”
~ Soumi, LIBERATE participant

This is why this work matters so much to me.

Creating spaces where BIPOC adoptees can come as they are. Where you can be activated and still have choice. Where consent, pacing and your own boundaries are respected.

Where you can be witnessed without having to perform, explain or make yourself smaller.

This is what I want LIBERATE to be.

A small group journey where you can explore your adoptee story, your body, your grief and your becoming, alongside other BIPOC adoptees.

If you feel that pull, I’d love to talk with you.

DM me LIBERATE to book a clarity call. ♡

Warmly, Sun Mee.

I used to think a safe adoptee space was one where nobody got activated.

Where everyone felt comfortable.
Where nothing difficult came up.

I understand it differently now.

When we touch grief, identity, shame, relationships and belonging, activation can happen.

What matters is what happens when it does.

Do you still have choice?
Can you pause?
Can you say “pass”?
Does your pace matter?
Is consent part of the process?

Can you be witnessed without being fixed, compared or explained away?

That’s what I mean by a brave space.

A space where you don’t have to abandon yourself when something gets activated.

This is the kind of space I’m intentionally creating inside LIBERATE, my 8-week group journey for BIPOC adoptees.

A small, intimate space to explore what becomes possible when you have more choice, connection and support while staying with yourself.

If your body is craving this kind of space, DM me LIBERATE and I’ll send you the details. ♡

Warmly, Sun Mee.

Most adoptees get this wrong about somatics:

It’s not only movement.

Somatics can also be
what you see,
touch,
hear,
smell,
and feel inside.

A soft blanket.
Your hand on your chest.
Birdsong.
A grounding scent.
A felt sense you can’t explain yet.

That’s somatics too.
Gentle. Sensory. Slow enough for safety.

DM me SOMATICS to receive my free somatic starter guide.

warmly, Sun Mee.

So honored to have supported Juhi on her healing journey toward inner belonging and reclaiming her wholeness.💛

Before joining LIBERATE, she didn’t yet have the somatic tools and guidance to meet her adoptee self with radical softness. Through our 1:1 sessions and group journey, she began creating that safe space within herself.
And she could feel the shift in her body.

She's able to manifest what she wants in her life. She returned to her home country with more curiosity, more calm, and a deeper trust in herself, knowing emotions may rise, and that she now has the capacity to hold herself through them.

This is the work.
Coming home to yourself.
Creating safety within.
Reclaiming the wholeness that was always yours.

If you feel called to deeper support, we currently have 3 more spots for next LIBERATE cohort starting in October.

Comment or Dm “LIBERATE” to learn more.

As a Korean-German adoptee, I understood my patterns deeply.

I knew why I people-pleased.
I knew why rejection felt so big.
I knew I was making myself smaller to keep connection.

And still… my body kept doing it.

Because my mind had learned one thing:

“I understand this.”

But my body had learned:

“This keeps me safe.”

What changed wasn’t more understanding.

It was giving my body new experiences—pausing before saying yes, choosing myself in small ways, and discovering:

I can stay connected to myself and still belong.

That’s where somatic work changed things for me. ♡

If this resonates, save this for the next time you catch yourself repeating a pattern you already understand.

And if you want to explore this work alongside other BIPOC adoptees, comment LIBERATE and I’ll send you the details.

Warmly, Sun Mee.

One juicy moment from my conversation with Flor on Roots Reimagined 🎙️💛

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Flor for the Roots Reimagined podcast, and we went DEEP into people pleasing and fear of rejection.

For a long time, I thought being good, easy, helpful, and pleasing would protect me from rejection.

So I tried to appease people.
I tried to be perfect.
I avoided criticism whenever I could.

And underneath it all were stories I had carried about myself:

That I wasn’t good enough.
That I didn’t fully belong.
That somehow, I was unworthy.

And underneath those stories was something even more tender:

A fear of abandonment.
A fear of rejection.
A deep longing to belong.

I could understand the pattern. I could name it.

But knowing why I people-pleased didn’t automatically make my body feel safe enough to stop.
That’s one of the reasons somatic work became so meaningful to me.

I’m so grateful to Flor for creating the space for this conversation and for asking the questions that allowed us to explore these layers so honestly.

I speak about this much more deeply in my conversation with Flor, including what’s underneath our people-pleasing and how somatic work can help.

♡ Where do you notice yourself people-pleasing most, and what do you think you’re trying to protect yourself from?

Why do I still people-please, when i already know i do it

Because people-pleasing isn't always a decision you consciously make. Sometimes it happens before you even have time to think.

Your body notices:
Are they upset with me?
Am I disappointing them?
Could I lose this connection?

And suddenly you're saying yes when you mean no.

For some adoptees, adapting, staying easy, or reading other people closely became deeply connected to belonging.

That doesn't mean something is wrong with you.

But as adults, we can begin creating more choice between:
This is what my body automatically does"

and

"This is what I actually want."

That little space is powerful.
It's where boundaries, self-trust and a deeper relationship with yourself can begin.

Do you notice yourself saying yes before you've even checked what you want?

Warmly, Sun Mee.
