This is what actually happens in an Eczema and Skin Case Audit.

You fill out a detailed intake form before we meet so I can review your child's history: symptoms, timeline, what's been tried, what helped, what didn't, what testing has been done.

Then we meet for 45 minutes privately.

Together, we go through your child's case. You learn what patterns matter. What's likely being missed and why. You get specific, actionable guidance you can use immediately. And I tell you honestly what it's going to take to resolve this for your child specifically.

Not general eczema advice. Clinical direction based on your child's actual case.

You leave knowing what's actually been driving the skin. Why what you've tried hasn't held. And what the right next step is, whether that's working with me or not.

I had a session recently with a mom who had been managing her son's eczema for four years. Four practitioners. Thousands of dollars. The eczema was still there.

In 45 minutes she had more clinical clarity than she'd had in four years.

That is what this session is for.

Comment BOOK and I'll send you the link to schedule yours.

Save this. Share it with any parent who has been searching for answers and doesn't know what the right next step actually is.

This is one of the most important distinctions I make with families whose baby's eczema seemed to start or worsen when solids were introduced.

In a child with a healthy gut and a well-regulated immune system, new foods are tolerated. The immune system encounters the food proteins, recognizes them as safe, and builds tolerance.

In a child with a gut with existing dysbiosis (they may not have any gut symptoms at all, or maybe you've noticed mucus stools, gas, reflux, colic, or spit up), who has a compromised skin barrier (they may already have light skin involvement, or maybe just some dry skin, cradle cap, or baby acne), and an immune system already in an inflammatory state (such as having aforementioned gut and skin symptoms), something different happens. The same process by which a body learns tolerance ends up backfiring.

The immune system reads a threat. Reactivity follows.

The food didn't create the problem. But a problem that was already there was revealed.

This is why the eczema often seems to explode around 6 months. Not because solids are the cause. Because the internal dysfunction that had been building since birth, sometimes since the NICU, sometimes from the first course of antibiotics, sometimes from the earliest weeks of gut microbiome establishment, finally made itself visible.

The window between 6 and 12 months is when the immune system is most responsive to the right intervention. Acting during that window produces faster, more complete outcomes than waiting until after it has passed. If you're waiting for them to outgrow it, you need to know that.

If your baby's eczema seemed to start or worsen when you introduced solids, it wasn't the food. It was the timing of a problem that had been building longer than you knew.

Comment BABY and I'll send you my free guide on early warning signs in babies and what they're actually telling you.

Save this. Share it with any parent who blamed themselves for introducing solids too early or too late.

This is one of the most common patterns I hear from families before they find me. They found the right probiotic. The research said it was the right one. The practitioner recommended it.

The skin settled briefly. Then the itching and flaring returned.

Here's the clinical reason why.

A probiotic adds beneficial bacteria to the gut. That's its job.

But adding beneficial bacteria doesn't remove the pathogenic and opportunistic organisms driving the inflammation.

It doesn't repair the gut lining that allows inflammatory compounds to leak into the bloodstream.

It doesn't address the immune dysregulation keeping the skin in a reactive state.

It doesn't rebuild the nutrient status preventing the skin barrier from repairing itself.

A probiotic is one tool in a system that needs multiple interventions in the right order, for each specific child.

Adding a probiotic without addressing pathogenic burden, nutrient status, and overall inflammatory load first is like planting seeds in soil full of weeds. Some may take hold. Most won't. And the ones that do won't survive long.

This is why understanding how eczema develops and presents in babies and children matters so much. And why "gut healing" most often doesn't solve the problem.

Comment BURDEN and I'll send you the next step to find out what's actually driving your child's eczema and what needs to happen to resolve it specifically for your child.

She was under 6 months old. Constantly reactive. Cheeks red, open, weepy, and inflamed since the earliest weeks of life.

The family was doing everything right by the information they had. Avoiding every allergenic food. Applying creams. Managing the reactions carefully.

The cheeks stayed red. The itching didn't stop.

Because the food list and the creams were never going to reach what was actually driving this.

When we ran functional testing: Staph aureus high. Klebsiella high. Two strains of Enterococcus both high. Both Akkermansia and Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, the most protective gut bacteria, completely absent. High zonulin indicating significant leaky gut. Active gut inflammation. An immune system in overdrive.

This wasn't sensitive skin. This wasn't a food problem, or a cream deficiency. This was a gut and immune system under significant stress since the earliest weeks of life, showing up on her cheeks every single day.

Now, some of these findings are "expected" in a baby at this age. But when the body is reacting like this, it's not the right balance for that particular body.

Within 8 months of addressing what was actually driving the internal picture, the cheeks cleared. The scratching stopped. Sleep came back. Her diet expanded.

Not because we found the right cream or avoided the right food. Because we finally found what the creams and avoidance were never going to reach.

If your baby has cheek eczema that won't clear no matter what you do on the outside, comment DRIVE and I'll send you the next step to find out what's actually driving it.

Save this. Share it with any parent whose baby has had red, inflamed cheeks since the earliest weeks of life.

Your child isn't reacting to the food.

I know that's not what the food test said. I know that's not what the elimination diet suggested. Or what other parents in your online groups have told you. Or even what your practitioner told you.

Here's what's actually happening.

When a child's immune system is dysregulated, it loses its ability to distinguish between threat and non-threat. Foods that a healthy immune system handles without issue get flagged as dangerous. The skin reacts. The reaction gets attributed to the food.

So the food comes out. Maybe there's some improvement for your child. You think you solved the problem.

Then the eczema comes back. So you try removing more foods. Then even more. Because the eczema keeps coming back.

The reason it's coming back isn't because you haven't found the right food trigger yet. There is no right food trigger, because food isn't causing your child's skin to keep flaring. If it was, the problem would be solved by now.

What's happening is that your child's immune system is dysregulated, and this is independent of their diet. And when the immune system is still dysregulated, it finds the next thing to react to. Which could be absolutely anything. Because what's making the immune system react in the first place was never addressed.

The food elimination was never the answer. Addressing what's making the immune system overreact is.

Comment NEXT and I'll send you the next step to find out what's actually driving your child's immune reactivity and what it's going to take to resolve it.

Save this. Share it with any parent who has been told to keep removing foods.

The biggest obstacle in this case wasn't the eczema and the itching. It was the fear that had taken a 6 year old down to 8 foods.

Watermelon. Apples. Pears. Mango. Blueberries. Cherries. Sweet potato. Cucumber. That was his entire diet (for over 2 years). Every time the skin flared, another food came out. By the time this family found me, there was almost nothing left.

My name is Jennifer Brand. I'm a clinical nutritionist working exclusively in pediatric eczema for over 9 years with thousands of cases, and a clinical and business mentor to other functional and integrative practitioners.

A diet of almost exclusively fruit and a couple of vegetables left this child with no protein, no healthy fat, and significant nutrient depletion. Those are the exact conditions that prevent healing and worsen the root cause dysfunction driving the eczema in the first place.

The elimination wasn't protecting him. It was making the internal picture worse.

My focus for the first year wasn't an aggressive protocol. It was getting this child nourished. Because you cannot heal a body that doesn't have what it needs to heal.

Everything else followed from there.

He's 10 now. Eating a broad diet. Skin in good shape. Four years of working through malnutrition and parental food fear. Worth every one of them.

Food restriction didn't cause this child's eczema. And food restriction was never going to resolve it. What resolved it was addressing what was actually driving the skin, and rebuilding the nutritional foundation the body needed to do the work.

If your child's diet keeps getting smaller and the eczema and itching are still there, comment BOOK and I'll send you the next step to stop the restriction cycle and find out what's actually driving the itch.

No birthday parties.
No daycare without anxiety.
No trips, certainly not spontaneous ones.
No summer fun outside.

Just constant protection mode. Watching triggers, packing creams, bracing for the next flare, scanning every environment before your child goes in.

Most people don't see this part. They see a rash. They don't see the family that hasn't eaten at a restaurant in two years. The child who can't wear shorts in July. The parents lying awake at 2am listening for scratching. The life that got smaller and smaller while you tried everything you could find.

That is what chronic eczema actually takes from a family. And it is not something any child or any family should have to accept their norm.

When this is resolved the right way for your child, everything changes. The skin starts handling real life again. The constant monitoring anything and everything stops. Your child goes to the birthday party and eats the cake. You travel without a bag full of creams. You stop bracing for the next flare because the flares stopped coming.

The goal is healthy skin. But it's also getting your child's childhood and your family's life back.

If eczema is controlling your life right now, comment NEXT and I'll send you the next step toward taking your control back.

A mom said to me recently, "I didn't realize how much I was grieving until it started to come back."

Her daughter had been struggling for 2 years by the time they found me.

We were a few months into our protocol together, and her daughter's skin had finally started to clear.

What she realized she was grieving was her daughter's childhood. Birthday parties they skipped. Summers spent indoors. Years of her daughter's life that were organized entirely around a skin condition that nobody had been able to resolve. Years they'll never get back.

She could finally feel how hard it had been, now that she was on the otherside of it.

I think about that conversation a lot because it demonstrates something I see in almost every family that finally turns the corner.

Sometimes the first emotion isn't relief. It feels like grief. For the time lost, the childhood that was harder than it should have been, the years of trying everything and getting nowhere.

Then as the skin settles, the hypervigilance stops, and normal life starts to come back, the grief goes away and turns into something else.

Just life. Normal, peaceful, beautiful life.

That is what this work is actually for.

If you're still in the hard part, I want you to know that the hard part is not permanent.

Comment NEXT and I'll send you the next step.

"You just have to learn to manage it better."

Pediatricians say it. Dermatologists say it. Family members say it. Even functional practitioners say it when they aren't seeing results.

And every time you hear it, something inside you starts to accept a future you never wanted for your child.

Managing eczema is not the same as resolving it. Managing means creams, antihistamines trials, trigger avoidance, constant hypervigilance, and bracing for the next flare. Indefinitely. It means the diet stays restricted. The birthday parties stay off limits. The second-guessing every decision never stops.

Resolving means something else entirely. When resolution happens the skin doesn't just calm temporarily. It stops reacting the way it has been. Because the reason it was reacting has been addressed.

I have worked with countless families who were told they'd just have to learn to manage their kids' skin better.

These kids now? They are living like there was never ever a problem. They are eating freely, sleeping through the night, wearing whatever they want, going wherever they want.

Management is never the goal in my practice. Resolution is.

If you've been told you just have to manage your child's eczema, comment RESOLVE and I'll send you the next step toward doing just that.

Save this. Share it with any parent who has been told management is the only option.

Chronic eczema doesn't just affect your child.

It affects your marriage. Your other children siblings. Your career. Your friendships.

It affects your entire family's quality of life relentlessly.

You stop going out because the childcare situation is too complicated. Date nights disappear. Disagreements about treatment approaches become a source of ongoing conflict. Sleep deprivation affects everything. Patience, judgment, connection.

Siblings feel it. Family decisions revolve around the child with eczema. Vacations get planned around medical needs. Spontaneity? It's completely gone.

You're exhausted at work because you're up all night with your child trying to stop them from scratching. Or you've quit your job because you can't work while you're serving as your child's full time caregiver.

Friends don't understand what you're going through, and wonder why you don't just keep using the prescriptions.

And underneath all of it is the fear that this is just life now. That it doesn't get better. That this is what your family has become, organized entirely around a condition that nobody has been able to resolve.

I see this in almost every family that comes to me after months, or often years, of going through this. The child's skin is the primary problem. The family's life is the fallout.

When the skin actually heals, not just calms temporarily, but resolves, your whole family can breathe again. Not just your child. Everyone.

That is the bigger picture. And that is what resolution actually gives back to you.

Comment SOLVE and I'll send you the next step toward getting your family's life back.

Save this. Share it with any parent whose whole family is living around their child's eczema.
