When someone is strong and already in pain, pushing harder isn’t always the answer.

If I use too much pressure, the body can subconsciously fight back and guard even more. Instead, I’m using very little pressure here and giving the tissue a chance to gradually let go.

After working on the restriction, we tested his movement again. He could touch his toes, rotate with significantly more freedom, and the pain that started around a 7 or 8 had dropped to about a 0.5.

That doesn’t mean the inflammation and irritation magically disappeared. Those can take time to calm down, especially when they’ve been there for a while. But restoring range of motion and functionality while significantly reducing pain is a big step in the right direction.

Bodywork doesn’t always need to be aggressive to create change. Sometimes less pressure allows the nervous system, muscles, fascia, and surrounding tissue to stop guarding so movement can return.

If lower back pain, muscle tightness, restricted rotation, hip tension, or chronic pain is making everyday things like bending over, getting dressed, or putting on your socks difficult, we can look at what may be restricting your movement.

A stiff ankle doesn’t just affect your foot. When your ankle loses mobility, your knee often has to compensate by bending or twisting differently, which can increase stress on the knee, hip, and the rest of the movement chain.

In this session, Holden uses a gentle traction technique to create space in the ankle joint while restoring movement. By improving ankle mobility, the knee begins to move more naturally, reducing unnecessary strain and helping the entire leg function better.

If you’ve been dealing with ankle stiffness, knee pain, hip discomfort, or feel like your movement is restricted, sometimes the problem isn’t where you feel it. Restoring proper motion at the ankle can make a huge difference throughout the body.

If bending forward feels stiff or stops suddenly, the problem isn’t always in your lower back.

Sometimes the restriction comes from the entire posterior chain. Tight tissue through the calves, hamstrings, hips, and thoracic spine can create tension that limits how far you can move. Instead of forcing a stretch into the painful area, we look at how the whole body is connected and restore movement where it’s actually restricted.

As the tension through the chain decreases, the body often regains range of motion almost immediately, making everyday movements feel easier and more comfortable.

If your back feels tight, your hamstrings never seem to loosen up, or bending forward has become difficult, your body may be compensating for restrictions somewhere else in the chain.

Deadlifts are supposed to build strength, not leave your lower back locked up.

When your hips stop doing the work, your lower back starts taking over. The psoas, hip flexors, and QL tighten to protect your spine, which can leave you feeling stiff, pinched, and unable to move comfortably.

Instead of forcing the area to stretch, we focused on restoring movement by reducing muscle guarding, improving hip function, and using gentle isometric contractions to calm the nervous system. As the hips started moving better, the pressure on the lower back decreased and rotation immediately improved.

If your back keeps tightening after lifting, the problem may not actually be your back. It could be the movement pattern that’s overloading it.

Most people try to stretch a stiff neck, but if it’s already irritated, pulling harder isn’t always the answer.

This gentle resistance exercise helps your body improve neck mobility by activating the muscles instead of just stretching them. The goal is to create better movement, reduce tension, and help your neck feel less restricted without adding more irritation.

If turning your head or bringing your ear toward your shoulder feels limited, give this technique a try and compare your range of motion before and after.

If neck pain, stiffness, headaches, or limited mobility have been slowing you down, we can help identify what’s creating the restriction and restore natural movement.

When you lie down and completely relax, do your feet naturally point in different directions?

If one foot falls farther in or out than the other, it may not just be your hips. Fascial restrictions through your legs can influence how your body rests and moves. Over time, those restrictions can contribute to hip tightness, lower back pain, buttock pain, limited mobility, and even discomfort that travels into the knees or feet.

In this video, Holden demonstrates a simple self release technique that helps reset rotational tension in the legs. By gently moving into the restricted position first, then applying a controlled stretch in the opposite direction, you may notice your legs resting in a more neutral position within seconds.

Small changes in alignment can make a big difference in how your body feels when you stand, walk, and move throughout the day.

If pain, stiffness, or limited mobility has been holding you back, we can help identify what’s creating the restriction and develop a treatment plan that’s specific to your body.

Pain isn’t always the problem. Sometimes it’s the restriction that’s stopping your body from working the way it was designed to.

As the adhesions begin to release, movement starts to come back. The patient immediately noticed less pain, better weight transfer through the midfoot, and improved stability while standing. The knee still felt weak, but that’s expected. When your body has been relying on scar tissue and compensation for years, those muscles need time to wake up and do their job again.

The goal isn’t to force movement. It’s to remove what’s blocking it first, then rebuild strength on top of healthy movement instead of dysfunction.

If you’ve been told you’re just weak, but every step still hurts, there may be more to the story. Chronic knee pain, scar tissue, fascial restrictions, poor gait mechanics, ankle mobility, foot pronation, post surgical recovery, and movement compensation are all connected. Looking at the entire chain instead of just the painful area can completely change the outcome.

When pain moves during treatment, it’s not always a setback. In many cases, it’s a sign that your body is finally letting go of the first restriction and revealing the next one.

Think of it like peeling an onion. Every layer you remove exposes another layer underneath. In this session, releasing the ankle immediately changed the patient’s symptoms. The pain in the front of the knee improved, but it revealed a restriction behind the knee that had been hidden by years of compensation. This is exactly why treating only the spot that hurts often doesn’t create lasting results.

Your body is one connected system. Poor ankle mobility can contribute to chronic knee pain. Knee dysfunction can affect the hips, pelvis, lower back, and the way you walk. That’s why we focus on restoring movement instead of simply chasing pain.

If you’ve been struggling with chronic knee pain, knee pain after surgery, scar tissue, limited range of motion, ankle stiffness, hip tightness, walking pain, sports injuries, arthritis, or persistent pain that keeps coming back, there may be an underlying movement restriction that hasn’t been addressed yet. Many people are told to strengthen the area, but if the joint isn’t moving properly, strengthening alone may reinforce the dysfunction.

Our approach looks at biomechanics, body alignment, myofascial restrictions, movement patterns, and how every joint affects the next. Whether you’re recovering from knee surgery, dealing with post surgical scar tissue, trying to avoid another procedure, or simply want to move without pain, finding the true source of the problem is the first step.

Scar tissue isn’t always the problem. Sometimes it’s one tiny restriction that’s forcing the rest of the body to compensate.

In this case, she had pain along the outside of her knee after surgery. Instead of assuming the whole knee was weak, we tested how the patella moved, checked the surrounding tissue, and found a specific restriction that wasn’t gliding the way it should.

Every restriction changes how the body moves. When one area can’t move, another area has to absorb the stress. Over time, those compensations add up and create pain.

Our goal isn’t to treat the entire knee. It’s to identify each restriction, release it, and restore normal movement so the body no longer has to compensate.

Pain is often much more specific than people realize.

If you’re dealing with lingering pain after surgery, there may be more to the story than just “getting stronger.”

Knee pain after surgery can be caused by scar tissue adhesions, restricted patella mobility, soft tissue restrictions, and poor movement patterns. Restoring normal motion may help reduce compensation throughout the body.

Even after surgery, scar tissue and adhesions can keep causing pain and limit how you move. In this session, Holden releases restrictions around the surgical site to reduce tension, improve knee mobility, and help restore a more natural walking pattern. As the tissue begins to release, she immediately notices less pain, better range of motion, and a more stable gait.

If you’re still dealing with pain after surgery, it may not just be weakness. Addressing the soft tissue can make a huge difference.
