Our history began in 1963 with a vision by Bishop William J. Cox, who was a member of the Commission on the Problems of Aging and a member of the Cumberland Lions Club. Seeing the need for nursing beds and realizing that the Lions Club was looking to sponsor a major community project, Cox coordinated the union of the two. The initial facility was constructed for 50 beds but was expanded to 101 in

1981. In 1995, rehabilitation services were increased to meet the needs of individuals requiring intensive therapy in order to fully function when they returned home. In December of 1997, Lions Manor contracted with Independent Dialysis Foundation to provide hemo-dialysis on site to nursing facility residents. Lions Manor had evolved to stay on the forefront of skilled nursing services delivery over the first 35 years. In order to better reflect the changes, the board of directors authorized changing our name to The Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care on April 17, 2006. On August 1, 2020 The Lions Center was officially sold to Barton Healthcare Management Inc. and our name was changed to Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Barton plans to construct a new complex for seniors on Route 220. The facility is expected to include independent living apartments and cottages, a 101-bed skilled nursing center and an assisted living facility that will accommodate 40-60 residents. The project is currently in the design phase with a target of completion in 2023.

New Lions Rehab Center Employee Testimonial!

"Since joining the team at Lions Rehab Center as Dietary Manager, I've been welcomed with support, encouragement and respect. From my first day, I've seen the dedication our staff bring to providing excellent care and creating a positive environment for our residents. As dietary manager, I take pride in ensuring every resident receives nutritious, well-prepared meals that meet their individual needs. While maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. I believe mealtime is about more than just serving food-its about bringing comfort, dignity and enjoyment to those we care for. I'm grateful to be part of a team that values compassion, teamwork and excellence. It is truly rewarding to know that the work we do each day has a positive impact on our residents' lives. There's no greater reward than caring for the people who spent their lives caring for us. I am blessed with a job that I love and enjoy each and every day!"

πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ Midweek Faith Gathering on the Patio at Lions Rehab Center! ✝️🌸

What a beautiful morning of faith, fellowship, and encouragement at Lions Rehab Center! Our residents gathered together on the patio to enjoy the fresh morning air and a meaningful time of reflection and worship.

We are especially grateful for Ken Sigler, our Maintenance Director, who takes time from his busy schedule to share his faith, encourage our residents, and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. ❀️

It’s a blessing to have someone who is willing to share the hope and love of Christ with others. πŸ™

Lions Rehab Center Staff Testimonial!

Ken Staggs, BOM:

"I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work at Lions Rehab Center. I came to work for Lions Rehab Center May 30, 2023 as Business Office Manager after working for another facility for 27 years. Every day reminds me that a job is about more than a paycheckβ€”it's about purpose, relationships, and making a difference in the lives of the residents. I genuinely love what I do, and that love grows because of the incredible people I get to work alongside.

One of the greatest blessings of my workplace is our supportive team culture. We encourage one another, celebrate each other's successes, and step in to help when someone needs it. Knowing that I'm part of a team that values respect, kindness, and collaboration make coming to work something I look forward to.

I've learned that a positive workplace doesn't happen by accident. It is built by people who care about each other and who are committed to doing their best every day for the residents and their families.. I'm thankful to be surrounded by coworkers who create an environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

My job has given me opportunities to grow both personally and professionally. It has strengthened my confidence, taught me valuable lessons, and reminded me that when people work together with compassion and integrity, amazing things can happen.

Today, my testimony is one of gratitude. I celebrate my workplace, the people who make it special, and the privilege of being part of such a supportive team. I don't take it for granted, and I thank God for placing me in a place where I can serve, grow, and enjoy the work I do each day".
