Be sure to vote early and often for the June photo contest of the C&O Canal Trust! The second of my photos below was included in their 2018 calendar. From my running 500 miles + around the canal, I've created a 111 page book with over 2000 photos which take you from mile 1 to 184.5 including a lot of the history of the C&O with (others') photographs dating back to the mid 1800's juxtaposed with mine from 2009-2016.

#72 continued. Over the last 14 months I ran 72 segments to cover the 184.5 mile tow-path (many out & backs, repeat mileage, & miles getting to the canal) for a total of 432 miles. Thanks a million to Ramón for driving me so I could make faster progress and for providing fun company & moral support!

#72. The Last segment! 11.2 miles today from Spring Gap to Cumberland, MD.

#71 2/3rds. 1st 1/3rd was from Bond's Landing, accessed by a road that still fits George Washington's description as the "Worst road ever trod by man or beast" to Paw Paw Tunnel. The 2nd third I ran (& walked some) from Town Creek Aqueduct to Spring Gap. 17 miles total. Kind of mirrors the C&O Company's way of handling it when they decided they needed one less lock than was planned. There is no lock 65; instead there are 63 1/3 & 64 2/3.
