Every pregnancy and delivery is unique. For some women who have previously delivered by C-section, a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) may be a safe and appropriate option for future pregnancies.

VBAC offers potential benefits such as a shorter recovery time, less postoperative discomfort, and avoiding another major surgery. However, it's important to discuss your individual medical history and pregnancy with your provider to determine the safest delivery plan for you and your baby.

At North Pointe OB/GYN, we're committed to helping expectant mothers make informed decisions about their care.

Learn more about VBAC and whether it may be right for you:

🌸 Tuesday Tip: When Period Cramps Are Unbearable, Don't Just Suffer Through Them 🌸

Mild cramping can be a normal part of your menstrual cycle, but severe pain that keeps you home from work, school, or daily activities is not something you should ignore.

💡 Try these tips for relief:
✔️ Use a heating pad on your lower abdomen
✔️ Stay hydrated
✔️ Get light exercise, such as walking or stretching
✔️ Consider over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications if appropriate for you

If your cramps are severe, worsening, or interfering with your quality of life, it may be a sign of an underlying condition such as endometriosis, fibroids, or adenomyosis.

You don't have to "just live with it." Talk with your healthcare provider about your symptoms and treatment options.

Tuesday Tip: Many women are surprised to learn that current ACOG guidelines recommend Pap smears every 3 years for individuals ages 21–29 if results are normal and there are no additional risk factors. For ages 30–65, screening intervals may vary depending on whether HPV testing is included. 🩺

Even if you’re not due for a Pap smear every year, annual well-woman visits are still important for preventive care, breast exams, and discussing any health concerns with your provider.

Big update in women’s health you may start hearing more about 👇

“PCOS” (Polycystic O***y Syndrome) is being discussed for a potential name change to better reflect what we now understand about the condition — that it affects far more than just the ovaries.

The proposed term “PMOS” (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome) highlights the broader picture, including hormone imbalance, metabolism, fertility, and long-term health risks.

For patients, this shift is about clarity — and helping ensure earlier diagnosis and more complete treatment of a complex, whole-body condition.

Read more here:

After decades of misinformation around PCOS, global experts announced a groundbreaking name change. PCOS is now PMOS, which better reflects the multisystem effects of the disease.
