🌹 The people behind Cherokee Rose.

Yesterday we traded therapy rooms, Zoom screens, documentation, and consultation meetings for dinner together at Cooper’s Hawk. ❤️

One of my favorite things about growing Cherokee Rose has been watching it become so much more than just my practice. It’s a team of incredibly caring people who each bring their own personalities, experiences, specialties, and perspectives to the work we do.

We spend a lot of time supporting other people, so getting everyone together simply to eat, laugh, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company was very much needed.

And yes… when you put a table full of therapists together, the conversation is never boring. 😂

Very grateful for this crew and for the work they do every day for our clients and our community. 🌹

💻 Happy Internet Self-Care Day!
The internet can connect us, educate us, entertain us, and help us find community, but sometimes, it can also leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, inadequate, or simply exhausted.
Your digital life deserves boundaries, too.
Today, consider asking yourself:
🌸 Does this account make me feel connected or drained?
🌸 Am I scrolling because I genuinely want to, or because I'm avoiding something?
🌸 What content leaves me feeling worse about myself?
🌸 When was the last time I took a break from my phone?
🌸 What would it look like to make my online space feel more supportive?
You don't have to delete every app or disappear from the internet. Sometimes self-care can be as simple as muting an account, unfollowing something that doesn't serve you, turning off notifications, or putting your phone down for a little while.
You are allowed to protect your peace, even online. 💗
What is one small digital boundary you could set today?

🌎 World Humanitarian Day
Today, we recognize the people who dedicate their time, energy, and compassion to helping others, often in incredibly difficult circumstances.
But caring for others can come with an emotional cost.
Whether you're a humanitarian worker, healthcare professional, caregiver, parent, counselor, first responder, or simply the person everyone turns to when they need support, it's easy to become so focused on caring for others that you forget to care for yourself.
Compassion fatigue is real. Burnout is real. And needing support doesn't mean you care any less.
You are allowed to:
🌿 Set boundaries
🌿 Take a break
🌿 Say no
🌿 Ask for help
🌿 Make space for your own emotions
🌿 Receive the same compassion you offer others
You don't have to empty yourself to be there for someone else.
Caring for yourself isn't selfish. It's part of caring well for others. 💗
Today, let's honor those who help others by remembering that they deserve support, too.

🌸 You don’t have to navigate infertility alone. 🌸
Infertility can be an incredibly isolating journey. There can be hope, grief, disappointment, uncertainty, excitement, frustration, and sometimes all of those emotions in the same day.
We’re creating a safe, compassionate space for couples navigating infertility, loss, treatment, and the emotional journey of building a family.
Our Infertility Support Group will meet online through Zoom, with opportunities for couples to connect together as well as time for individual support.
💗 Our first meeting is Tuesday, August 25th at 7:00 PM.
If you’re interested in joining the group, please reach out to register:
📩 Nwaka Isamah: [email protected]
📩 Savannah Lyons-Becker: [email protected]
You don’t have to have the right words. You don’t have to explain everything. You just have to show up as you are.
You are not alone. There is space for you here. 🌷

Things Therapy Can Help You Untangle 🧠

Sometimes, it’s not about having one big problem.
Sometimes, it’s about having a hundred little questions you can’t seem to answer.
“Why do I keep doing this?”
“Why is it so hard for me to say no?”
“Why do I feel guilty all the time?”
“Why am I constantly overwhelmed?”
“Why do I feel disconnected from myself?”
“Why do I keep putting everyone else first?”
“Why do I know what I need, but struggle to ask for it?”
Therapy can be a space to slow down, get curious about what’s underneath the surface, recognize patterns, and begin making sense of the things that have felt confusing for a long time.
You don't have to walk into therapy knowing exactly what's wrong.
Sometimes, figuring that out is part of the work. 🤍

🍎 Back to School Isn't Just a Transition for Kids
As backpacks are packed and routines begin again, remember that this season can bring a mix of emotions for parents, too.
You might feel:
✨ Relieved to have a little more structure.
💛 Sad that another season has passed.
😅 Overwhelmed by schedules, homework, and activities.
❤️ Guilty for enjoying a quieter house.
🌿 Hopeful for a fresh start.
If you're sending your little one to school for the first time, watching your youngest become more independent, or navigating another year of balancing work, family, and everything in between your feelings are valid.
Transitions, even positive ones, can be emotionally demanding.
As you care for your children this school year, don't forget to care for yourself.
🍎Take a few deep breaths.
🍏Ask for help when you need it.
🍎Give yourself permission to not have it all together.
You deserve the same compassion you so freely give to everyone else.
💗 At Cherokee Rose Counseling & Consulting, we're here to support parents through every season of life.

🤱 World Breastfeeding Week 🤱
Breastfeeding can be a meaningful experience, but it can also be physically demanding, emotionally exhausting, and full of unexpected challenges.
Behind every feeding is a parent who may be navigating sleep deprivation, recovery, latch difficulties, pumping schedules, concerns about milk supply, or wondering if they're doing enough.
If that's you, we want you to hear this:
💗 You are doing an incredible job.
💗 It's okay to ask for help.
💗 Your mental health matters, too.
This World Breastfeeding Week, let's support breastfeeding parents with encouragement and compassion.
Sometimes the most meaningful support looks like bringing a meal, holding the baby while a parent rests, listening without judgment, or simply asking, "How are you doing?"
Because while one parent may carry the work of breastfeeding, they don’t have to carry the emotional weight of it without compassion, encouragement, and support.

💛 International Day of Friendship
As adults, friendships can become harder to maintain. Busy schedules, careers, parenting, caregiving, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, grief, and everyday responsibilities often leave little time or energy for connection.
But friendship isn't just a nice addition to life, it's a protective factor for mental health.
Healthy friendships can:
🌿 Reduce feelings of loneliness
🌿 Provide emotional support during difficult seasons
🌿 Help us cope with stress
🌿 Remind us that we don't have to carry everything alone
🌿 Increase resilience and overall well-being
The truth is, we were never meant to do life entirely on our own.
Whether you're navigating infertility, adjusting to parenthood, grieving a loss, or simply feeling overwhelmed, having even one person who listens without judgment can make a meaningful difference.
And if someone in your life is struggling, you don't have to have the perfect words. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply showing up, checking in, and reminding them they don't have to face it alone.
Today, take a moment to reach out to a friend, or let someone know you could use a little support yourself.
Everyone deserves a village. 💕

National Parents’ Day
Parenting is one of the most meaningful roles many people will ever have, but it is also emotionally demanding.
Today, we want to remind parents of something important: you do not have to be a perfect parent to be a good parent.
Many parents carry an invisible mental load, remembering appointments, anticipating needs, managing schedules, handling household responsibilities, and trying to care for everyone around them. It can be exhausting.
Supporting parents is not about helping them become perfect. It’s about helping them feel:
🤍 Seen
🤍 Heard
🤍 Valued
🤍 Emotionally supported

Your mental health is part of parenting. When parents have space to rest, process emotions, ask for help, and receive support, it benefits the entire family.
If you’re a parent, we hope you’ll give yourself permission to:
🌱 Take a break when you need one
🌱 Ask for support without guilt
🌱 Acknowledge that some days are simply hard
🌱 Speak to yourself with the same kindness you would offer a friend
🌱 Celebrate the small moments of connection and care
A difficult day does not mean you’re failing. Feeling overwhelmed does not make you a bad parent. Needing support does not mean you’re weak.
This National Parents’ Day, we honor the love, effort, and emotional energy that parents pour into their families every day.
💬 What is one thing that has helped you feel supported as a parent?
