Meditation Monday: Breathe + Move 🌿

What if meditation didn’t mean sitting perfectly still?

This week’s Meditation Monday combines 6x9 breathing with slow, rhythmic movement to help you slow down, reconnect with your body, and shift into a calmer state.

Inhale for 6.
Exhale for 9.
Move slowly with your breath.

I’m demonstrating this on a Pilates reformer, but you don’t need a reformer to practice it. You can use two resistance bands at home.

The goal isn’t a perfect breath or perfect movement. It’s to slow things down, pay attention to what you notice, and let your breath guide the pace.

Breathe. Move. Reset.

Always listen to your body and modify or stop any movement that doesn’t feel right for you. Check with your doctor before beginning a new exercise or movement program.

I’m trying something new.

At 62, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I want to live this next chapter of my life.

I don’t want to play it small.

I want to keep learning, growing, taking risks, getting stronger and doing things that matter to me.

Most of all, I want to add value.

After decades as a therapist, trainer, coach, athlete and teacher, along with plenty of lessons from my own life, I have a lot I want to share.

I certainly don’t have everything figured out. I’m still learning too.

But I do know that however many decades I have ahead of me, I want to show up for them. I want to live fully, use what I’ve learned and hopefully help other people thrive along the way.

That’s what Sixty+ Saturday: Age. Remodel. Thrive. is about.

And I’m starting with something I’m really proud of.

12 years without alcohol. 🚫🍷

Here we go.

Age. Remodel. Thrive.

What’s one thing you keep saying you want to do… but haven’t quite started?

Exercise more. Meditate. Get organized. Eat differently. Start that project. Build a new routine.

Sometimes the goal isn’t the problem.

The first step is just too big.

In this week’s Thriving Thursday, I share 4 simple ways to turn something you want to change into a small, realistic step you’re much more likely to follow through on.

You’ll learn how to make your next step:

• Meaningful
• Measurable
• Realistic
• Time-based

And one of my favorite strategies: rate your confidence from 0–10.

If you’re not at an 8 or higher, you don’t have to give up on the goal.

Make the step smaller.

Small wins build confidence.
Confidence helps build consistency.
And consistency helps create lasting change.

Watch the video and choose ONE small step you can take this week.

Next Thriving Thursday, I’ll show you my MART strategy for helping that new habit stick.

Meditation Monday: Release the Brace

Are you still bracing even though the stressful moment is over?

Stress, pain, injury, and simply getting through a busy day can leave our muscles and fascia holding tension long after we need it. You might notice it in your jaw, neck, shoulders, hips, or lower back. Sometimes we don’t even realize how much we’re holding until we finally let go.

In today’s Meditation Monday, I’ll guide you through a brief progressive relaxation practice to help you notice where you’re bracing, gently release some of that tension, and allow your body to feel supported.

Press play and practice along with me. You can use this during the day when you need a reset or before bed to help your body transition toward rest.

You don’t have to force yourself to relax.

Notice the brace.
Breathe.
Soften.
Let go a little more.

Let go of the brace and thrive. 💛

Happy 4 months to Miss Mayzi! 🐾💛 And happy 2 months to us as proud puppy parents!

Boy, did we underestimate how much time, patience, and energy goes into laying a good foundation for a puppy. We’re learning right alongside her every day.

And maybe that’s the biggest lesson so far… we really are Better Together. 💛

We’re all better when we eat healthy food, get lots of exercise out in nature, make time for quality snuggles, and get peaceful, restorative sleep. And working with a dog trainer has helped keep us accountable, get unstuck when we need it, and keep building good habits together.

Two months of loving, learning, training, laughing, exercising, snuggling, and figuring this puppy-parent thing out.

Happy 4 months, Miss Mayzi. We sure love doing life with you. 🐶💛
