A missing arch means your foot loses its spring‑like push-off. That can make walking feel harder, cause faster fatigue, and lead to changes in your gait. You might notice the inner side of your foot looks flat when you stand, a full footprint on a wet test, swelling along the inside of the ankle, or tiredness after walking. Limited ankle dorsiflexion (equinus) can make all of this worse.

There are practical steps that often help: supportive shoes, orthotic inserts, calf and Achilles stretches, and targeted strengthening or physical therapy to improve mechanics and reduce energy loss.
