We understand that veterinary visits can be stressful. We know how scary it can be when your pet is sick, when unexpected costs come up, or when you’re worried about what happens next. Our team is here because we genuinely care about you and your pets.

But frustration is never an excuse for yelling, cursing at, threatening, insulting, or verbally abusing our staff.

Our veterinary professionals work hard every day to care for your pets, answer your questions, navigate emergencies, explain treatment options, and support you through some of the hardest moments with your animals.

You can be upset. You can ask questions. You can disagree. You can advocate for your pet.

But you can do all of those things while treating our team with respect.

We have a zero-tolerance policy for abusive or threatening behavior. If a conversation becomes abusive, our staff may end the interaction or ask you to leave.

Kindness costs nothing — and it makes a difficult day easier for everyone.

Dr. Scholz recently went on a mission trip to the US Virgin Islands. Here is a message from Dr. Scholz! 💕

I was recently able to participate in a veterinary mission trip to the US Virgin Islands. This trip was sponsored by Christian Veterinary Missions (CVM.org) a non-profit organization that uses our passion for veterinary medicine to share Christ's love. A group of veterinarians and non-veterinarians assembled in Charlotte-Amalie St Thomas on July 28. Guided by Dr Tracy Williams, the vet at the St Thomas Humane Society and housed by the St Thomas Reform Church, we were able to do community outreach and practice veterinary medicine on local dogs and cats. We attended a Summer Day Camp on 1 day, repairing stuffed animals that the kids brought to us or which we gave them on the day. We had daily devotionals with Sheree Haubrich, discipleship coordinator of the church. We had meals provided for us at the guest house or out in the community. On 2 days we did spay/neuters on cats and dogs at the Humane Society, while 1 of the vets held vaccine clinics on the island. We interacted with 60+ kids, helped more than 100 animals, and hopefully reached many other members of the community. In the future, more trips of this kind will happen on this island, hopefully building on our foundation. CVM sends short and long term missions all over the USA and all over the world. You do not have to be a veterinarian to help out!

What is osteoarthritis?

Osteoarthritis is a type of arthritis that affects the cartilage on a pet's joints. This can cause the cartilage to break down, forcing the bones to rub against one another. Osteoarthritis not only makes movement harder, but it can also cause severe pain. One way we can treat this in cats is by using an injection called Solensia. Solensia works like your cat's naturally made antibodies to reduce pain signals. Our clinic cat, Jerry, struggles with OA pain, but after starting him on the Solensia injections, we have noticed a huge difference in his activity levels. Jerry now gets the zoomies, and likes to jump on top of our cabinets! If you suspect that your cat may have OA pain, give us a call to make an appointment and discuss the Solensia injection with one of our doctors. 🐾💕
