"The pursuit of thinness has rarely been only about thinness."

This may be one of the most important things I wrote in my newest blog.

As I looked back through the history of beauty standards, one question kept coming to mind: What if we have been asking our bodies to solve problems they were never meant to solve?

Body Image! So many I’ve worked with have told me they don’t want to remove certain things in their environment because they make them feel “okay.” And it feels too scary.

And I understand that thought.

But those same things often keep the focus on the body. They keep the checking, the evaluating, the pressure quietly in place.

Things like:
mirrors you pass all day
clothes that no longer fit
a scale that is always within reach

None of these seem like a big deal on their own. But over time, they add up. They can even lead to more overt disordered patterns with food and exercise, or make recovery from an eating disorder even harder.

This blog is a gentle look at how your home environment may be impacting your body image more than you realize, and what small shifts can begin to support your healing.

If this resonates with you, you are not alone.

Resistance vs. Defiance in Eating Disorder Recovery: What Parents Need to Know

If you are supporting a child in eating disorder recovery, this can feel so confusing.

Is this my child… or her/his ED?
Is it resistance… or defiance?

They can look very similar on the surface, but they are not the same. And how you respond matters more than you might think.

I wrote this to bring some clarity to something I see families struggle with often. You are not doing anything wrong. Sometimes the approach just needs to shift.

If you are in the middle of this, I hope this helps you feel a little more grounded and a little less alone. 💙

But it’s also one of the most common signs that your body is healing.

Can a GLP-1 medication cure an eating disorder? I understand why people are asking.

Food noise can feel relentless.
Fighting your body is exhausting.
And the promise of quiet can sound like relief.

But recovery asks deeper questions than symptom suppression alone.

🤍It asks about nourishment, trust, nervous system safety, and what happens when the medication is no longer there.

I shared some thoughtful reflections in a new blog post offering important considerations for anyone navigating recovery in today’s culture.

To FBT or Not FBT? Adolescent ED Recovery - I’ve wanted to write this for a long time. Family Based Therapy is often considered the “gold standard” for adolescents with eating disorders.

While it can be incredibly helpful, especially in the early stages, there is another side that I’ve seen again and again while walking alongside families.

In this post, I share my perspective as an eating disorder recovery coach and as someone who has lived through recovery myself. I talk about where FBT helps, where it can fall short, and why motivation, trust, and connection matter so much for lasting healing.

If you are a parent supporting an adolescent or teen, my hope is that this brings clarity, validation, and hope.

💙 Recovery is possible. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Why I Expanded My Coaching Practice - My own recovery journey has shaped not only who I am, but how I show up in this work for others. As my practice has grown, I’ve been very intentional and prayerful about how it grows.

Recovery deserves care that is personal, connected, and rooted in both education and lived experience. And when my schedule fills, my heart genuinely hurts that I cannot do more.

For almost ten years of coaching, I’ve tried to find ways to help more people without ever diluting the level of care I provide...through partnerships, referrals, and creating resources. While those matter, nothing can truly replace one-on-one support.

My love for team synergy, different strengths working toward a shared purpose, goes all the way back to my banking days. So building a small, intentional recovery team felt both natural and timely.

So excited to introduce you to:
Cambria Camp, Harper Reed, & Elizabeth Betz

You can read more about this decision and the stories of each coach on the blog here. 💙

𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲: 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐒𝐨 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝
Not too long ago, I shared a post on Instagram about why trusting your body can feel so hard in recovery. The response surprised me. For a more educational post, there was a lot of engagement.

It deserved more space, so I turned that post into a blog.

In it, I talk about interoception, why body cues can feel confusing, and why struggling to trust your body doesn’t mean you’re doing recovery wrong.

You can read it here: https://sarahleerecovery.com/trusting-your-body-in-eating-disorder-recovery/
