Everyone tells you what to pack in your hospital bag, but nobody tells you who should be waiting for you when you get home. đď¸
The transition to parenthood is beautiful, but it isnât meant to be done alone. We spend so much energy prepping the nursery, yet the most critical part of the journey gets left out: You.
If I could build a postpartum âdream teamâ from day one, these are the five people I would want in my corner:
đĽ Lactation Consultant (IBCLC): Because ânaturalâ doesnât always mean easy. Having an expert ready to help with latch and supply before the 3 AM panic sets in can be a game-changer.
đ§ Perinatal Mental Health Therapist: Instead of waiting until the water feels too deep, having a therapist in place early provides a safe space to process identity shifts, manage anxiety, and catch mood changes quickly.
⨠Birth & Postpartum Doula: For birth, having an advocate in the room helps ensure safety and can be key in preventing birth trauma. For postpartum? Having someone hold the baby to allow for restorative sleep is priceless.
đŞ Pelvic Floor Therapist: Physical healing is vital. Reconnecting with the body and addressing recovery effectively ensures that discomfort doesnât become the new normal.
đŻââď¸ Mom Group / Peer Support: Isolation is often one of the hardest parts of the postpartum period. Finding a circle of peers who can validate the chaos and offer understanding makes the hard days so much lighter.
When youâre ready to build out the mental health piece of your village, Phoenix Health is here. Our team consists of specialized therapists who truly understand fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum.
You donât have to do this alone. đ¤
