July is the peak of summer, and your family may spend more time outdoors and in the sun.

UV rays can reach your skin even on cloudy days and may reflect off sand, water, and pavement. Sun protection is a year-round habit worth building.

Remember these three things:
1. Sunscreen – SPF 15 or higher for everyone over six months old, reapplied every two hours
2. Hat – Wear a wide-brimmed hat or protective clothing to help shield your face, neck, and skin from the sun.
3. Shade – Babies under six months should be kept in the shade at all times.

What a great day in Wilmer!

Thank you to every family and individual who joined us at the City of Wilmer Health & Wellness Expo!

From health screenings and wellness education to conversations about the benefits available through Parkland Community Health Plan, we loved meeting community members and helping connect them with care and services designed to support their health.

A special thank you to the City of Wilmer for bringing together an event filled with valuable resources, great conversations, food, and music. Events like these remind us that healthier communities are built when we come together.

A child can drown in less time than it takes to answer a text.

This summer, if your child is in or near the water, stay within arm's reach.

If something does go wrong and you are not trained in water rescue, don't jump in. Follow the Reach-Throw-Don't-Go-In approach. Use a pole, towel, or flotation device to help from a safe distance, and call 9-1-1 immediately.

Swim lessons and CPR training are two of the best ways to prepare your family before a water emergency happens. Many local YMCAs or community pools offer free or low-cost lessons in the summer.
