Sometimes you can understand what you’re feeling and still feel it in your body.

At The River Wellness Texas, practices like yoga, Yoga Nidra, and breathwork help clients work with the nervous system—not just their thoughts. By building awareness and regulation, clients can develop a greater sense of safety, calm, and connection to themselves.

State TAAP was a huge success!

We’re incredibly grateful to have been part of the 52nd Annual TAAP State Conference. A few days filled with great conversations, new connections, familiar faces, and some of the best people in behavioral health.

Now that we’re back in Dallas, we’re feeling especially grateful for everyone who spent time with The River Wellness Texas and for the work TAAP continues to do bringing this community together.

Thank you, San Antonio. We had a great time.

Strength in the Current.

Sometimes the hardest part of getting help is believing you’re worthy of it.

Ally Edelman, Office Manager at The River Wellness Texas, shares from her own lived experience with addiction and mental health and reminds us of something simple but powerful: you are worthy of getting help.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. You just have to be willing to start.

If you or someone you love is struggling, The River is here.

Not every experience is easy to explain—and not everything we carry can be reached through words alone.

Brainspotting works with the connection between the brain and body to help clients access and process deeper emotional experiences. It's one of the ways The River Wellness Texas goes beyond traditional talk therapy to meet clients where healing needs to happen.

Compulsive sexual behavior can affect far more than sexuality. It can impact trust, intimacy, relationships, self-worth, and nearly every area of a person's life.

At The River Wellness Texas, CSAT-informed treatment creates space to understand what's driving these patterns—not simply address the behavior itself. Our goal is to help clients develop healthier relationships with themselves and others without shame defining the process.

Heather Nolan brings more than 15 years of experience in behavioral health and mental health treatment to her role as a Primary Therapist at The River Wellness Texas. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Supervisor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Heather has extensive experience working with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, eating disorders, body image concerns, codependency, substance use, and other complex or co-occurring conditions.

Throughout her career, Heather has provided individual and group therapy, comprehensive assessments and diagnoses, person-centered treatment planning, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary care. Her background also includes many years of clinical leadership and program development, giving her a broad understanding of how thoughtful, individualized treatment can support clients with complex mental health needs.

Heather is EMDR Certified and brings an integrative, trauma-informed approach to her work. Her clinical experience includes DBT, experiential therapy, family systems, mind-body approaches, and work with co-occurring disorders. She has a particular interest in the relationship between physical, emotional, and mental wellness and believes effective treatment should address the whole person rather than simply focusing on symptoms or a diagnosis.

At The River Wellness Texas, Heather works collaboratively with each client to better understand the experiences, patterns, and challenges affecting their mental health while helping them develop practical skills, greater self-awareness, and healthier ways of navigating their lives. Her depth of clinical experience, creative approach to treatment, and commitment to individualized care make her a valuable part of The River’s clinical team.
