Last, but certainly not least… we’re wrapping up our National Midwifery Week series with a very special interview! 👑🤍
Meet Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, OBE the former royal midwife who helped deliver Prince William and Princess Catherine's babies and went on to become England’s first Chief Midwifery Officer and the first Chief Midwife for the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM)!
This summer, our midwives traveled to Portugal for the ICM conference, where they had the opportunity to learn from and connect with midwives from around the world.
We were also proud to sponsor KaTina, a Certified Nurse-Midwife from Houston, to join us on this trip as part of our commitment to supporting opportunities for midwives of color.
Throughout this series, we’ve heard from midwives practicing in different countries, healthcare systems, and circumstances. And while their experiences may look very different, one message echoed throughout the conference:
The world needs one million more midwives.
This call to action was a central theme of the conference and an important reminder that access to skilled, compassionate maternal healthcare is a global need.
Whether caring for royalty or families in underserved communities, midwives play an essential role in improving maternal and newborn health.
Different countries.
Different experiences.
One shared mission. 🤍
