Our Sweets Around the World art adventure begins in México! 🇲🇽🍭🌎

I’m prepping this Paleta Payaso-inspired art lesson for my 2nd grade artists, and I’m already SO excited to see their creations! 🥹🎨

I believe food and sweets have such a special way of bringing people together. Through this series, I hope to use art to spark curiosity and encourage my students to learn about different cultures, countries, traditions, and histories around the world. 🌎✨

So, of course, our first stop had to be México! 🇲🇽 And what sweeter way to begin than with an iconic Mexican treat — Paleta Payaso! 🍭

This is just the beginning of our Sweets Around the World art adventure… 👀✈️🎨

5 years of teaching art and I’m finally figuring out the little systems that make my art room run smoother 😂🎨

I’m a VERY visual person, so having our projects, grade levels and objectives right in front of me helps me see what’s happening now and what I need to prep next.

I think this was the moment it finally started feeling like my art room. 🥹🎨

After weeks of organizing, cleaning, planning, moving things around (and changing my mind approximately 472 times 😂), I saved one of the things I was most excited about for last.

Seeing Artful Little Minds on my classroom wall felt a little surreal. 🥹

Here’s to a new school year, a new art room, and LOTS of little minds making art. 🎨✨

One tiny tool has made such a difference during my teacher prep. ✨

I’ve been using my makeid label maker to organize my paints, paper, drawers, tools, and classroom supplies and now everything finally has a home! 🌈

Because when you only have five minutes between classes, knowing exactly where everything is matters. 😂

Today was a moment I’ll never forget 💛

Our Art Club was featured on the news , sharing how our students are using art to raise awareness about ocean conservation 🌊🎨

Even more exciting—our artwork will be featured at next week!

From collecting plastic bags to transforming them into woven works of art, my students are learning that their creativity can make a real impact on the world.

I’m so proud of them and the voices they are becoming. This is bigger than just creating—it’s storytelling, advocacy, and bringing attention to real-world issues that affect all of us.
