On Stand Up To Cancer Day, we're thinking about the patients who show up, the families who stand beside them, and the care teams who never stop fighting. Standing up to cancer isn't one day for us. It's every day, in more than 300 communities across Texas.

Today is MPN Awareness Day. MPN stands for myeloproliferative neoplasm, a group of rare blood cancers that happen when the bone marrow makes too many red blood cells, white blood cells or platelets.

The most common types are polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia and primary myelofibrosis. Because MPNs develop slowly, many people live with one for years before symptoms like fatigue, itching or an enlarged spleen appear.

Early detection and the right care team make a real difference in managing an MPN long term. If something feels off, talk to your doctor.

At 11, Sophia Lopez was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma, a rare brain tumor near her optic nerves. Her care team at Texas Center for Proton Therapy used a precise treatment approach to protect the healthy tissue around it.

Sophia completed 30 sessions over six weeks. "I would say proton therapy saved my daughter's life because it gave us hope," said her mom, Jessica.

Today, Sophia is monitored with routine MRIs and has a message for other kids facing treatment: don't be afraid. Watch her story below. πŸŽ—οΈ

Did you know BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutations are linked to ovarian cancer risk, not just breast cancer? A family history of either, especially in a parent, sibling, or child, is one of the clearest reasons to talk to a genetic counselor.

This Month, our genetic counseling team at Texas Oncology is here to help you understand what your family history means for you and build the right plan together.

Progress you can measure. πŸŽ—οΈ Childhood cancer survival rates have climbed dramatically over the last 50 years. For the most common childhood cancer, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, survival has gone from 57% to 92%.

That progress didn't happen by accident. It's research, it's better treatment, and it's teams like ours showing up for kids and families every single day.

This , we're celebrating how far we've come, and staying committed to how much further we can go.

This past weekend, nearly 1,000 physicians, clinical and functional leaders, and exhibitors gathered for Texas Oncology's Annual Physician Meeting, a celebration of our 40th anniversary and the legacy of breakthroughs behind it.

Steven Paulson, M.D., President, CEO and Chairman, opened with this year's theme: "Grounded in Our Promise. Innovating for the Future." A special anniversary panel, moderated by Catherine Swick, SVP, brought together Dr. Paulson, Dr. Ekery, Dr. Mennel, Dr. Taylor, Ernie Sims, Managing Director, and Tammy Sayers, Chief of Operations, for a look back at 40 years of progress.

We were especially honored by the presence of founder Mike Reese, M.D., whose impact helped build Texas Oncology's first 40 years, and continues to shape the next 40 as we grow as the nation's leading cancer care team.

We were also inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Siddhartha Mukherjee, M.D., who shared powerful insights on advancements in cancer care and the evolving role of AI.

The energy throughout the event was palpable, and the focus was clear: our patients remain at the center of everything we do, supported by the best team built to fight cancer.
