4 things I would never do as a chiropractor
1. I wouldn’t sit for hours without moving.
Your spine was designed to move, not stay locked in one position all day.
Prolonged sitting increases pressure through the lumbar discs, tightens the hip flexors, weakens the glutes, and places more stress on the low back.
Stand up every 20 to 30 minutes, walk, reset your posture, or use a standing desk.
2. I wouldn’t sleep on my stomach.
Stomach sleeping keeps your neck rotated for hours, arches the low back, and stresses the spine from your neck to your pelvis.
If you sleep on your side, use a pillow between your knees and keep your head neutral.
3. I wouldn’t skip stretching or foam rolling.
Foam rolling and mobility work stimulate the nervous system, improve short term flexibility, increase circulation, and help tight muscles relax so your joints can move better.
4. I wouldn’t ignore pain longer than two weeks.
Pain is your body’s alarm system. If it keeps coming back or will not go away, it may be more than a tight muscle.
It could be joint restriction, nerve irritation, weakness, compensation, or poor movement patterns.
Medication and steroids may mask symptoms, but they do not fix the root cause.
