Many of the patterns we carry as adults began much earlier. Needing outside validation, feeling afraid to be alone, being easily triggered, or always looking for the negative can all be signs of a wounded inner child.

A healed inner child looks different. It takes ownership, feels secure, is validated by self, and meets life with more calm and understanding.

Take a look at both lists. Noticing where you are today is a meaningful place to start, and it is not something you have to work through alone. When you are ready, call us at (214) 471-5947 or visit campbellrecoveryservices.com.

What is Case Management

When someone is struggling with addiction or complex mental health challenges, families are often left trying to build and manage the entire treatment plan themselves. That is where case management can help.

At Campbell Recovery Services, we identify and assemble the appropriate treatment team. That may include therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, coaches, companions, treatment facilities, and other specialized providers.

When a higher level of care is needed, we help families evaluate facilities and coordinate transitions into and out of treatment. We communicate with providers, monitor progress, help identify gaps, and provide ongoing oversight for the family.

Case management does not replace treatment. It connects the different parts of the plan so the family is not left managing everything alone.

Campbell Recovery Services provides discreet, comprehensive case management nationwide. Contact us to see how we can help your family navigate the next step.

The Campbell Recovery Services team was proud to support and attend the 42nd Annual CARE Breakfast this morning!

CARE continues to make a meaningful impact in our community through education, prevention, and awareness surrounding substance use disorders and addiction. Events like this bring together individuals, families, community leaders, and professionals who share a commitment to supporting those affected by addiction and promoting lasting recovery.

We are especially proud that our very own John Campbell served as one of the Co-Chairs of this year’s CARE Breakfast! John also serves on the CARE Board of Directors and is currently President-Elect, preparing to step into the role of Board President in 2027. His involvement reflects our team’s commitment to giving back, supporting recovery-focused organizations, and making a positive impact beyond the walls of our practice.

At Campbell Recovery Services, we believe strongly in the power of community, collaboration, and education to help individuals and families find hope, healing, and recovery.

A special thank you to the CARE team, board members, sponsors, and everyone involved in making this year’s breakfast such a meaningful event. We are grateful to support an organization doing such important work and look forward to continuing our involvement in the years ahead!

Brainspotting vs. EMDR: How They Differ, and How to Choose

Brainspotting and EMDR both work with trauma, and both pay attention to where you look, so they are easy to confuse. Our latest article explains what each one involves, how the research behind them compares, and what to ask when you are deciding which might fit you better.

Who is in your circle, and how close are they?

The social atom is a simple way to map your relationships. You sit at the center, where your values, boundaries, and well-being set the tone. Around you is an inner circle of people you trust deeply, then an active circle of friends you see regularly, and an outer circle of acquaintances and occasional connections.

Drawing it out can show where your support really comes from, and where a relationship may be pulling you off center. A healthy social atom is built with intention. Protect your center. Choose your circle.

Su***de risk assessments

One reason su***de risk can be difficult to recognize is that people don't always share what they're experiencing.

In one recent small study of adults hospitalized after a su***de attempt, nearly half said they hadn't told anyone beforehand. Some feared judgment or hospitalization. Some felt ashamed or isolated. For others, the crisis escalated too quickly to explain.

That's why a su***de risk assessment can't depend on one question, or on someone volunteering the words "I'm suicidal." Clinicians also look at changes in behavior, feelings of hopelessness, withdrawal, substance use, recent loss, access to lethal means, protective relationships, and the person's ability to follow a safety plan.

The goal is not to interrogate someone. It's to create enough safety for honesty, and to develop a plan before the crisis becomes more dangerous.

Su***de risk assessment is one of the many assessments we offer at Campbell Recovery Services. If danger is immediate, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

You’ve got “the ick”

Okay, hear me out. Sometimes the ick is just the ick. But sometimes the ick is actually anxiety, especially when you're dating in your 20s. It's easy to mistake vulnerability and uncertainty for incompatibility.

You meet someone, things are going well, they start liking you back, and suddenly you're thinking: Wait, do I even like them? They're texting me too much. Something feels off.

Sometimes that's your intuition telling you this person isn't right for you. But getting closer to someone also means becoming vulnerable, and vulnerability can feel really uncomfortable.

So before you immediately end things, ask yourself: Did they actually do something that doesn't align with my values or boundaries? Or am I uncomfortable because this relationship is becoming more real?

You don't have to force yourself to stay with someone you don't want to be with. But you also don't have to run from every relationship the second it stops feeling easy. The goal isn't to ignore your intuition. It's to learn the difference between intuition and anxiety.

The hardest part of a first mental health appointment is often not knowing what will happen once you walk in. Our new article explains what a mental health assessment actually is, a conversation rather than a test, and walks through the areas you will likely be asked about, including your current concerns, emotional health, daily functioning, and history. It also answers the two questions people ask most: what if I do not know what to say, and will I be diagnosed right away.
