Portrait Challenge: CG Ladies Edition 🎨😂🙃

08/14/2026

This picture takes me back to my first day of kindergarten. I was just a little girl, waiting for the bus with my seesters and the woman who would shape so much of who I would become.

Seventeen years later, there are so many things I wish I could tell her.

I am a mother.
I have two amazing children.
I learned that strength and vulnerability can exist together.
I learned that motherhood makes you understand your own mother in ways you never could before.
I learned that grief doesn’t disappear. It changes.
And I learned that the little girl in this picture will never stop needing her mom.

I wish she could see the woman I’ve become. I wish she could meet the children who know her through my stories. I wish I could call her when life gets hard and hear her voice.

But I carry her with me—in my work, in my motherhood, in my resilience, in the way I love, and in the woman I continue to become.

17 years without you.

17 years of missing you.

17 years of realizing just how much of you lives in me.

I will continue to make you proud. I love you, mom 🙃

We enjoyed returning to participate in the St. Luke Community UMC Community Health Fair. A Back to School Event providing healthcare screenings and resources, school supplies and activities for the whole family in the DFW metroplex.

Thank you Arlene @ Transitions Optical for your support and partnership with this event. Black EyeCare Perspective youngest board members loved educating the youth on the importance of annual eye exams, the new Transitions® Lenses colors and encouraging their peers to choose as a career

My Broadway star as Orphan Kate 🤩✨
It’s been such a joy watching my theater girlie flourish in the arts and shine so confidently on stage. From her love of musicals at home to bringing characters to life under the lights, she truly belongs there.

I’m so excited to watch her continue exploring her gifts and all the beautiful possibilities the performing arts can offer. 🎭
