Bringing the future of cancer care to North Texas 👇

Alex Kim, M.D., Ph.D., and our multidisciplinary team recently traveled to UNC Health to learn firsthand about PIPAC, an innovative, minimally invasive way to deliver chemotherapy directly to tumors in the abdomen.

For patients with limited treatment options, this approach could offer a new path forward, targeting cancer more precisely while potentially reducing side effects.

We’re excited to announce that PIPAC is now available at UT Southwestern. This makes us the first in Texas to offer this advanced therapy!

A major milestone in transplant care at UT Southwestern 💙

Our transplant program recently completed its 2,000th kidney transplant, a reflection of the extraordinary teamwork, innovation, and compassionate care that define our institution.

UT Southwestern is now one of only 15 programs in the nation, and the only one in North Texas, to surpass 1,000 transplants in four major organs: heart, lung, kidney, and liver.

Behind every number is a patient, a family, and a second chance at life. We are proud of the teams whose dedication continues to transform lives every day.

Congratulations to Matthew Fleming, M.D., on this impactful new publication examining the role health care providers play in advancing equity in medicine. 👏

“Stepwise Solutions for Providers” addresses implicit bias, medical mistrust, trauma-informed care, advocacy, and provider well-being, all with the goal of improving outcomes and creating more inclusive patient care environments. 💙

This important work emphasizes how education, awareness, and action can help strengthen trust and equity across health care.

Throwback to last year's Chief Resident Graduation Ceremony 🎓

In 2025, we celebrated an exceptional group of chief residents as they completed a transformative chapter in their surgical training and prepared to take the next steps in their careers.

Their dedication to patient care, commitment to education, and leadership within our department left a lasting impact on our colleagues, institution, and community.

As we look ahead to celebrating our 2026 chief residents later this month, we're reflecting on the accomplishments, camaraderie, and traditions that make this milestone so meaningful.

Congratulations to all of our graduates!
