When you or a loved one needs emergency care, your closest option may be a freestanding emergency room (FSER).

An FSER provides 24/7 emergency care similar to a hospital emergency room, but it’s located separately from a hospital campus. Offering convenient access to emergency care, FSERs can help you get the care you need close to where you are.

In this video, Dr. Brad Hoover, an emergency physician with HCA Healthcare, explains what to expect during a visit — from check-in and evaluation to treatment — and how, if you need hospital-based care, our connected network can help coordinate the next step.

Each year, approximately 10 million patients receive emergency care across our broader HCA Healthcare network. Every visit is different, but our goal is always the same: to help you get the care you need when it matters most.

After more than 30 years with his original hip replacement, John Knoblauch noticed hip pain and weakness were making everyday activities harder. During Bone and Joint Health Awareness Month, his story is a reminder that changes in mobility or daily comfort are worth discussing with a doctor.

John turned to Medical City Spine Hospital, where orthopedic surgeon Justin Cardenas, MD, performed revision hip replacement. Within hours after surgery, John was walking with help from his care team.

“What’s beautiful now is I can stand up on both feet,” John said.

Medical City Spine Hospital now offers joint replacement services, expanding access to orthopedic care with the same patient-focused approach our community knows from specialized spine care.

Read John’s story and see how hip revision surgery helped him take his next steps: https://bit.ly/3Wa1dug

After his original hip replacement served him for more than 30 years, worsening pain and limited mobility led John Knoblauch to seek hip revision surgery.

During Physician Assistant Week, Medical City Healthcare joins our broader HCA Healthcare network to recognize the important role physician assistants (PAs) play in caring for patients and supporting care teams.

Across specialties and care settings, PAs bring clinical knowledge, collaboration and compassion to the patient care experience. Whether conducting physical exams, helping guide treatment plans or supporting follow-up care, they work closely with physicians and colleagues to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.

As part of HCA Healthcare, PAs collaborate with care teams across a network that supported approximately 47 million patient encounters in 2025 across 190 hospitals and 2,500 outpatient facilities — helping make care possible for patients, families and communities.

To all our PAs, thank you for the care, expertise and support you bring to patients, families and care teams.

For many people with blood cancer or other serious blood disorders, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant can offer hope — and it often starts with a donor.

According to the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), most patients who need a transplant don’t have a fully matched donor in their family and rely on NMDP (formerly Be The Match) to help find one. NMDP ℠ is a global nonprofit leader in cell therapy that helps save the lives of patients with blood cancers and disorders.

As part of HCA Healthcare, we're proud to support this life-saving work through the Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Network — one of the nation's leading providers of unrelated bone marrow donor transplants in the U.S. Each year, this extensive network helps connect tens of thousands of patients with the care they need.

You could be someone’s match. Learn more and join the registry at https://bit.ly/4Aw6Cvs.

Each year, more than 1,000 acute leukemia patients receive treatment through this network.
