Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that disrupts communication between nerves and muscles, leading to muscle weakness and fatigue. MG can affect everyday activities such as seeing, smiling, swallowing, walking, and even breathing.

Symptoms may include drooping eyelids, double vision, difficulty swallowing, muscle weakness, and profound tiredness. While there is currently no cure for MG, today’s treatments can help many patients manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Ongoing research continues to advance our understanding of the disease and future treatment options.

An NPR article highlights research showing that older adults who completed a series of cognitive speed-training exercises were about 25% less likely to be diagnosed with dementia over the following 20 years. The study followed more than 2,800 participants, suggesting that certain types of brain exercises may support long-term cognitive health.
