One of the things I explain before a Facelift is that the result reveals itself gradually. I do not expect the cheeks, jawline, and neck to reach the same stage of recovery at exactly the same time.
Early swelling can temporarily soften some of the definition created during surgery. As that swelling decreases, the underlying contours generally become easier to appreciate.
For example, a patient may begin noticing a cleaner jawline while the cheeks or neck still feel somewhat firm. Over time, those areas continue to soften and integrate with the rest of the face.
During follow-up, I am looking at the entire progression. I want to see how the tissues are settling, how facial proportions are developing, and how the different areas are beginning to work together.
For me, Facelift recovery is not about one moment when everything suddenly looks finished. It is a gradual evolution toward a more refined, supported, and balanced facial contour.
