Juneteenth is a day worth marking.

It's a federal holiday now — but more than that, it's a reminder that freedom isn't just declared. It's fought for, sustained, and passed down. For a lot of DFW families, today is both a celebration and a reflection.

At CityDoc, we serve every family that walks through our doors — and we take that seriously. Our team is made up of people from all over this city, and we're proud of that.

However you're spending today — backyard cookout, community event, or just a quiet morning — we're open if you need us. All three Dallas locations. Walk in anytime.

Dr. Nance, our founder and a Fort Worth native, wrote something worth reading today — a tribute to Ms. Opal Lee, the grandmother of Juneteenth. Link in comments.

Happy Juneteenth.

Not all burns are the same. Sometimes you can treat at home. Sometimes you need to walk in.

First-degree (sunburn): Red skin, mild pain, no blisters. This is home care — cool water, aloe, stay out of sun.

Second-degree (blistering burn): Blisters, severe pain, peeling skin. Walk in. We can treat the pain and make sure it doesn't get infected.

Chemical or electrical burns: Walk in immediately. Don't wait.

Deep burns that expose tissue or affect movement: 911.

If you're not sure, walk in. It's faster than guessing. Same-day treatment. No appointment needed.

Summer camp season is here, and you need a physical signed off.

Some camps have specific forms. We fill them out. Some just need a provider's signature. We do that the same day.

Walk in. No appointment. $135 baseline. Forms done before you leave.

Don't wait until the deadline — that's when everyone panics and drives across town. Come now, get it done.

All 4 locations, open every day.

Pool season is open. Kids are in the water constantly. That means cuts, scrapes, and pool-related infections.

Not all pool cuts are the same.

Small scrapes: Rinse with fresh water, air dry, cover if dirty. Home care works.

Deeper cuts or anything that won't stop bleeding: Walk in. We can close it properly and make sure it doesn't need stitches.

Cuts that get infected (red, swollen, warm, pus): Walk in. Chlorine doesn't prevent infection. Antibiotics do.

Ear infections from pool water: Walk in. Looks like a regular ear infection, feels like a regular ear infection, requires antibiotics.

If you're not sure, walk in. It's easier than treating an infection later. Same-day care. No appointment.

Big News: CityDoc, Fort Worth location, is Moving Across the Street!

After 10+ years calling West 7th home, we're officially moving to a new space designed around you. Same team. Same care. New Home.

We've downsized the square footage, ditched the fluff, and kept what matters — excellent urgent care for Fort Worth.

We're in the final stages of design and want YOUR input. What matters most in a medical space? Sound off in the comments or stick around for the design polls coming your way.

More details (including our new address) coming soon. For now, thank you for sticking with us through this transition.

Heat exhaustion and heat stroke look similar, but they're not the same — and knowing the difference could save someone's life.

Heat Exhaustion: Heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness, fast heart rate, nausea. You're still alert and responsive.

Heat Stroke: Little or no sweating, confusion, slurred speech, high body temperature (103°F+). This is an emergency.

If you or someone around you shows heat stroke symptoms, call 911 immediately. Heat stroke damages the brain and organs quickly.

For heat exhaustion, cool down with water and rest in the shade. If it doesn't improve in 15 minutes, walk in or call us. CityDoc is open every day, no appointment needed.

Stay cool. Stay safe.
