October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🩷
A breast cancer diagnosis brings a lot of urgent decisions, and for many women, questions about future fertility are among them. Some cancer treatments can affect egg supply and the ability to conceive later.

Remember there are options. Egg freezing, embryo freezing, and other fertility preservation approaches can often be started quickly, and protocols can be tailored for patients with breast cancer, in coordination with your oncology team.

If you or someone you love has been diagnosed, ask about fertility before treatment begins. A conversation now can protect choices later.

July is Uterine Fibroid Awareness Month

Up to 80% of women will develop uterine fibroids by age 50 but not everyone is affected equally.

📍 African American women are 2-3x more likely to develop fibroids, often earlier and with more severe symptoms

📍 Risk also rises with age (late 30s-40s), family history, higher body weight, and not yet having children

Fibroids can affect fertility by blocking fallopian tubes, distorting the uterine cavity, or interfering with implantation and they often go undiagnosed until fertility treatment begins.

Know the signs: heavy periods, pelvic pain, frequent urination, difficulty conceiving. The good news, with early detection many women with fibroids go on to conceive successfully.
