The art of adjustment is the art of listening. 🤲✨
In Iyengar Yoga, a hands-on adjustment is never simply about making a pose “look right.”
It is a conversation.
The teacher observes.
The hands listen.
The student responds.
A skilled adjustment can reveal a direction the student could not yet feel for themselves: where to lift, where to extend, where to create space, where to soften without collapsing.
And then there is the most important part:
Knowing when to let go.
The goal is not for the teacher to create the pose for the student. The goal is to give the student enough information through touch that they can begin to discover the action within their own body.
This is one of the beautiful skills of teaching Iyengar Yoga:
to touch with precision, communicate with clarity, and ultimately teach the student to feel for themselves.
The hands may guide the body,
but awareness is what transforms the practice. 🧘♀️🤲
