As summer comes to a close, many families are preparing for the return of early mornings, homework, activities, and new routines. While this season can be exciting, it can also bring big emotions for children.
You may notice more meltdowns, irritability, trouble sleeping, clinginess, or worries about school. These changes don’t necessarily mean something is “wrong,” they’re often a child’s way of communicating that they’re adjusting to a big transition.
Children don’t always have the words to express what they’re feeling. That’s why play is such a powerful form of communication. Through play therapy, children can safely process emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and build confidence as they navigate life’s changes.
If your child seems to be having a harder time adjusting this school year, know that support is available. Every child deserves a space where they feel heard, understood, and supported.
What changes have you noticed in your child’s routine as summer comes to an end? We’d love to hear in the comments.
