The Community Prevention and Intervention Unit has served the North Texas communities most impacted by HIV and STIs. We provide FREE HIV/STI testing and link those with HIV/STI to free community resources and personalized healthcare options. The CPIU is comprised of 2 programs - Prevention and Intervention. The CPIU's Prevention Program focuses its efforts on identifying individuals who are vulnerable to HIV acquisition; recruiting them using various access methods; testing for HIV and syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea, when appropriate; and link to either HIV care or PrEP/nPEP through our healthcare and community partners. The Intervention Program targets persons residing in two separate census tracts that have, historically, had high rates of both sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and injecting-drug use. The CPIU was the first Behavioral Prevention Training Centers to be funded by the CDC to replicate evidence-based interventions, including design intervention materials, tailor interventions to local needs, train and provide capacity building, conduct implementation research, and disseminate the interventions targeting people with HIV.

Come out for a day filled with wellness resources, food, music, giveaways, a kids zone, free face painting, bounce house, Zumba, a 2-mile walk & MORE! 🙌🏾
We’re almost at 100 registered walkers, so let’s run those numbers up! 🔥
Most importantly, this event helps raise funds for the Care Package Initiative, supporting moms experiencing a mental health crisis or major life transition.
