Please join us in congratulating Kevin Marunick, our July Volunteer of the Month!

Kevin has been a dedicated volunteer at McKenna Farms since October 2024. As a sidewalker during our adaptive riding sessions, he provides encouragement and support to our riders while assisting therapists wherever needed. From helping clients groom and tack their horses to sweeping the barn, maintaining the trails, and lending a hand wherever it's needed, Kevin truly embodies the spirit of service.

Kevin says he volunteers because he loves giving back and making a meaningful difference. "Every time I volunteer, I leave feeling like I've received much more than I've given."

His favorite part of volunteering is watching our riders grow in confidence with each session. When asked about his favorite horse, Kevin admitted it's hard to choose because every horse has a unique personality, but Chevy holds a special place in his heart.

Kevin also shared his appreciation for the entire McKenna Farms family -- "The staff, volunteers, therapists, riders, and families have created a place that is full of kindness, compassion, and purpose. I'm grateful to be a small part of it."

Kevin, thank you for your positive attitude and your willingness to help wherever you're needed. Volunteers like you make it possible for McKenna Farms to continue changing lives every day.

On Tuesday, a group of volunteers from CarMax and the CarMax Cares program came to help on Farm. This amazing group helped with stalls, gardening, trail maintenance, moving boxes, and cleaning the gym! Every volunteer hour impacts lives. It enables us to focus on providing innovative, life-changing therapy to special needs individuals. Thank you CarMax for making a difference!

Please join us in congratulating AJ Jarrard, our June Volunteer of the Month!

Since joining the McKenna Farms family in January, AJ has quickly become an invaluable member of our volunteer team. Whether she's feeding horses, cleaning stalls, moving horses between pastures, or serving as a sidewalker during therapy sessions, AJ is always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it's needed.

What started as a love for caring for horses and staying active has grown into something even more meaningful. AJ says one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering is interacting with our clients during sessions. Seeing a smile on a child's face and being remembered when they return is what makes her time at the Farm so special.

While she says she can't pick a favorite horse, AJ does have a soft spot for the spicy personalities of Glory and Santino, and can't resist Dallas's adorable little mustache!

Thank you, AJ, for your dedication, positive attitude, and willingness to serve wherever needed. We are grateful to have you as part of the McKenna Farms crew!
