WHAT AGE ARE YOU?! 👀💪🏻

Your ability to sit down and stand back up says a lot about your strength, mobility, balance, and independence as you age!

From your 80s to your 20s, we’re turning a simple sit-to-stand into a lower-body challenge! 🔥

Here’s the thing: The goal isn’t to do a pistol squat at 80. It’s to maintain the strength and mobility to get out of a chair WITHOUT using your hands!

Being able to stand up independently is one of those everyday abilities we often take for granted—until we lose it.

And the best way to maintain it? Keep challenging your body BEFORE you lose the ability.

👇🏻YOUR TURN! Try the progression and comment what age you made it to! Can you beat your actual age?

Can’t get up from the floor because your knees hurt? 👀 Your HIPS might be part of the problem!

Before you blame your knees, take a look at your hip mobility!

Your hips and knees work together. When your hips lack mobility, especially rotation, your knees may have to compensate during everyday movements like squatting, getting up from the floor, and climbing stairs.

đź’Ą Why does hip mobility matter as we age?

âś… Helps you move more efficiently with less unnecessary stress on your knees

âś… Makes everyday tasks like getting on and off the floor easier

âś… Supports better movement mechanics, balance, and independence

âś… Allows you to access the range of motion needed for squatting, bending, and changing positions

The good news? You can start small!

These two levels of windshield wipers are gentle, beginner-friendly ways to start improving hip rotation. If you have knee or hip pain, work within a comfortable, pain-free range of motion. Never force the movement!

Remember, hip stiffness isn’t always the cause of knee pain, but improving hip mobility can be an important piece of the puzzle.

💬 Comment “MOVE” and I’ll send you FREE starter exercises for stronger knees and more mobile hips!

If you’re over 50, there’s one physical ability I really don’t want you to lose!

And there’s research to back up why it matters.

Getting and off the floor with no hands or minimal hand contacts challenges multiple pieces of physical function at once: strength, power, balance, mobility, coordination, and body control.

Research in adults ages 51–80 found that lower performance on this test was associated with significantly higher all-cause mortality.

But here’s the important part:

This is trainable.

Strength. Power. Mobility. Balance. Independence.

You don’t wait until you lose these things to start working on them.

Train now for what you still want to be able to do at 70, 80, and beyond.

Can you sit down AND get back up from the floor without using your hands? đź‘€

There’s actually research behind this.

It’s called the Sitting-Rising Test (SRT), a simple assessment of your ability to sit on the floor and stand back up using as little support as possible.

You start with 5 points going down + 5 points coming back up. Each time you use a hand, knee, forearm, or other support, you lose a point. Balance matters too.

And this isn’t just a party trick.

A recent study followed 4,282 adults ages 46–75 for a median of 12.3 years. People scoring 0–4 had a 3.8x higher risk of death from natural causes and 6x higher risk of cardiovascular death compared with those scoring a perfect 10.

An earlier study of 2,002 adults also found that lower SRT scores were associated with higher all-cause mortality.

Important: this does not mean getting off the floor without your hands magically makes you live longer. The test reflects several things that matter as we age, including strength, power, mobility, balance and overall physical function.

This crossed-leg, no-hands version is the most challenging version.

Can’t do it yet? That’s okay. My next video will show you the progressions to work toward it.

Save this and test yourself (and your parents đź‘€).

Meet one of the newest additions to our treatment toolbox: GAINSWave Shockwave Therapy. ⚡️

GAINSWave Shockwave Therapy uses acoustic pressure waves delivered into targeted tissue to create a mechanical stimulus that can help activate the body’s natural healing and repair processes.

At the tissue level, shockwave therapy may help:

• Increase local circulation and support new blood vessel formation
• Stimulate cellular activity involved in tissue repair and remodeling
• Influence pain signaling and decrease pain sensitivity
• Support collagen production and tissue remodeling
• Improve recovery in chronic tendon and soft-tissue conditions

We’re especially excited about using this technology for stubborn conditions that haven’t fully responded to traditional treatment, including plantar fasciitis, Achilles and patellar tendinopathy, tennis elbow, shoulder pain, and other persistent musculoskeletal issues.

The goal isn’t just to temporarily decrease pain. It’s to stimulate healing, improve tissue function, and get you back to doing what you love.

Curious if GAINSWave Shockwave Therapy is right for you?

Maybe you’ve been told, “This is just your new normal.”
Maybe traditional physical therapy didn’t work.
Maybe you’ve been passed from provider to provider, given the same generic exercises, or left feeling like no one is truly looking at the whole picture.

We know how defeating that can feel.

Our team is built differently. We collaborate. We ask more questions. We keep learning. We pivot when something isn’t working. And most importantly, we stay invested in you.

We can’t promise every road to recovery will be easy. But we can promise a team that will remain curious, resilient, and committed to helping you find a path forward.

Sometimes the difference isn’t another treatment. It’s finally finding a team that refuses to give up on you.
