Even wider clefts are able to be repaired in a single stage with our technique.

The skin markings are a hybrid of techniques based on Millard / Noordhoff / Chang Gung / Fisher principles.

Adequate muscle release and reorientation is crucial for that Goldilocks-level of lip rotation and balance.

Scarring can be thicker and darker — especially in our darker-skinned patients (e.g., Hispanic, Asian, African-American) — and a number of scar care techniques are used as needed.

This man has a severe underbite, making chewing impossible with most of his teeth. He also has a bone condition called Gnathodiaphyseal dysplasia that results in weaker bones, scaring off multiple experienced surgeons from offering him jaw surgery.

We performed a 3-piece upper jaw advancement, and lower jaw set back. The surgery was meticulous and patient, with 3D printed guides and plates (which are stronger!), and so far he is doing well with good occlusion and recovery seen here at 2 weeks.

Her left ear remained overprojected after the set back gave way as the absorbable sutures dissolved.⁠

A second operation was performed to strengthen the setback of the superior crus and antihelical fold, as well as the conchomastoid angle. This was done with permanent sutures to minimize the chance of another relapse. ⁠

Immediate Before And After Cleft Lip Repair.

Thank you to for teaching a muscle-oriented approach that is what works best in my hands.

The goal is to help our patients with clefts lead healthy and happy lives.

One piece of that is to get the cleft lip and nose repair as balanced and symmetric as we can at the first surgery, to minimize the chance of needing future revision surgeries.
