Kids get physicals, vaccine updates, and a clean bill of health before school starts every August. Whoever's coordinating all of it usually doesn't get the same treatment — their own check-up quietly gets pushed to "sometime this fall," same as last year, and the year before that.

If that's you, here's the thing: it doesn't need to be a whole appointment. Walk in to CityDoc for the stuff that's been sitting on your own list while everyone else's gets handled — a nagging cough, a strained shoulder, a sprain from getting back into a workout routine, anything that's easy to put off until it isn't.

Same fast care for you as for everyone else on the family calendar.

New shoes show up everywhere in August — school shoes for the kids, new work shoes for the job that finally requires them, the pair someone bought because fall race season just started and marathon training begins now. All of it adds up to a lot of new blisters this time of year.

Most of the time, it's exactly what it looks like: some friction, some redness, gone in a few days. But a blister that's swollen, warm to the touch, or draining anything other than clear fluid is a different situation, whether it's on a six-year-old's foot or a first-time half-marathoner's.

If you're staring at a foot and genuinely can't tell which one you're looking at, that's an easy same-day visit. Walk in, no appointment, and we'll tell you plainly whether it's "keep an eye on it" or "let's take a look."

August has a way of resetting everything at once. School schedules lock back in. Work slows back down from summer-Friday mode. The gym routine you dropped in June is suddenly non-negotiable again, because fall's coming whether you're ready or not.

Tighter schedules mean less room for things to slip through — including your own health. A nagging cough that was easy to ignore in July gets harder to ignore once your calendar's full again. A sprain from finally getting back into a workout routine needs looking at sooner, not "whenever there's time."

Whatever's resetting in your world this month, CityDoc fits into a tight schedule instead of fighting it. Walk in, no appointment, whenever it actually works for you.

Most parents get at least one of these wrong. It's National Immunization Awareness Month, and with school starting soon across DFW, here's what's actually true.

Myth: your child needs every recommended vaccine before day one.
Fact: Texas requires specific vaccines for enrollment — not the entire recommended list.

Myth: a missed shot means starting the schedule over.
Fact: providers can usually pick up right where it left off.

Myth: only new students need to worry about this.
Fact: returning students often need updates too, especially certain boosters at specific ages.

Myth: sorting this out takes a scheduled visit weeks out.
Fact: CityDoc can review what's on file and get a child started or caught up the same day.

Save this one. You'll probably need it more than once this month.

Backpack: bought. Shoes: bought, and already regretted by week two. Folders, pencils, the specific brand of glue stick the teacher asked for: bought.

There's one item on every DFW back-to-school list that never gets crossed off with the same satisfaction, because it doesn't come with a receipt or a shopping bag — the physical.

It's easy to lose track of the one thing you can't see sitting in a cart. If it's still floating around unfinished, walk into any CityDoc location, and it's usually done in about 20 minutes. No appointment, no advance planning required.

School's starting up across DFW any day now. Cross off the one item that doesn't come with a receipt.

Just because it’s cloudy doesn’t mean you’re off the hook for sun protection.

Up to 80% of UV rays can still get through the clouds, which means sunburns are just as possible on an overcast day as they are on a sunny one.

Wear sunscreen, even when the sun’s hiding. And if a sunburn does sneak up on you, we’re here to help.

Sunburns can be severe. Sun Poisoning can be even more harmful.

So, what’s the difference between the two?

Sunburns are localized to the skin, causing redness and pain. Sun poisoning is systematic, meaning severe burns are paired with flu-like symptoms.

Treatment varies depending on severity but no matter the extent, we’re here to help.

If you’re dealing with sunburns or sun poisoning, walk in. No appointment needed.
