Aditya Zanzaria is a rising junior at Hebron High School. For the last month and a half, he has interned in our Department working under Dr. Neil Desai, Director of Clinical Research, to help streamline how supervisors review and communicate research data, cutting down on errors that could trip up an audit in clinical research.

Aditya founded Skinwise, an app designed to help diagnose and prevent skin cancer. He hopes to pursue a career as an oncologist or dermatologist, combining patient care with skin cancer research.

In July, he had the opportunity to present at the Radiation Oncology Safety Assurance Committee and meet with accomplished physicians, gaining valuable insights from their expertise.

Outside of work and academics, Aditya enjoys playing competitive tennis, spending time on Minecraft, and hosting a medical podcast, The MedTalk.

We enjoyed having you here, Aditya!

Congratulations to Drs. Ken Kang-Hsin Wang, Paul Medin, and Weiguo Lu on receiving a $3.4 million National Cancer Institute (NCI) R01 grant to advance research in FLASH radiotherapy.

The funded project will investigate whether FLASH irradiation can reduce late normal tissue injury and support the clinical translation of FLASH radiotherapy, particularly in the challenging setting of spinal re-irradiation. The study aims to generate critical data that could expand treatment options for patients with spinal metastases.

A special congratulations to Banghao Zhou, Ph.D., and Lixiang Guo, Ph.D., former graduate students in the BIRTLab, whose hard work and commitment helped establish UT Southwestern’s FLASH research program and contributed to this achievement.

This milestone reflects years of dedication, perseverance and collaboration. Congratulations to the entire research team!
