First time I’ve ever seen this. Patient came to clinic with nagging right lower quadrant pain for the last few months. She had prior laparoscopic hysterectomy with several small incisions in her mid to lower abdomen. During surgery, she was found to have a tiny hernia at one of her prior incisions , with an incarcerated appendix. Appendix was removed and hernia repaired. Final pathology demonstrated subacute appendicitis. FUN FACT: an incarcerated appendix within an inguinal hernia is called an Amyand’s hernia. I’ve seen several of those… but never an incarcerated appendix within an incisional ventral hernia!
