Dr. Robert Schwartz explains a common patient concern: supra-umbilical skin laxity (loose skin above the belly button).

Even for patients with a low body fat percentage and a 'flat' stomach, gravity tells a different story when sitting down. This patient was bothered by the 'folding' effect of excess skin that exercise simply cannot tighten.

It’s not about weight loss, it’s about tailoring the skin to fit the patient's active lifestyle.

Big results, better proportions.

In breast augmentation, "big" should never mean "out of place." For this patient, the goal was clear: she wanted a significant size increase. However, the secret to a great result is the trial process.

We took the time to fit various implant sizes and profiles during the procedure to ensure we found the perfect match, achieving that bold look she desired while maintaining a shape that looks natural for her frame.

It’s not just about the CCs; it’s about the aesthetic.

To lift or not to lift? It’s about YOUR happiness.

In the consult room, Dr. Robert Schwartz is often asked: "Do I really need a lift?" The truth is, clinical needs and personal happiness aren't always the same.

A lift offers a youthful "perk" but involves additional scarring. For some, shape is the priority; for others, avoiding scars leads to a more confident result. At RS Plastic Surgery, we don't just look at anatomy, we look at what makes you feel beautiful. Dr. Schwartz’s goal isn’t to follow a textbook, but to listen to your vision. There’s no "right" choice, only the one that helps you feel your best.

Many people are surprised to learn just how different today’s silicone implants are from those used decades ago.

Earlier-generation silicone implants contained a much thinner, more liquid silicone gel. The consistency was often compared to honey or syrup, allowing the gel to flow freely if the implant shell was damaged or ruptured.

Because of concerns about silicone migration and the limited long-term safety data available at the time, these implants were taken off the market in the 1990s while further research was conducted.

Modern silicone implants are engineered very differently. Today’s highly cohesive silicone gel is often referred to as a “gummy bear” implant because the gel holds its shape even if the shell is cut. This advancement helps reduce gel movement and provides a more predictable shape and feel.

After years of extensive research and improved implant technology, silicone implants returned to the market with enhanced safety standards, stronger shells, and more cohesive gel formulations.

Breast implant technology has come a long way, and today’s implants are vastly different from the silicone implants of previous generations.

Most patients are surprised by one thing after breast augmentation: it is not nearly as painful as they expected.

The truth? Recovery is often far more manageable than the internet horror stories make it seem, especially with modern techniques, proper support, and realistic expectations.

Most patients describe the feeling as tightness, pressure, and soreness rather than severe pain. By the end of the first week, many are already feeling significantly better and returning to light daily activities.

Every recovery is personal, but fear should never stop you from getting accurate information and understanding your options.

Over or Under? The Great Placement Debate!

When it comes to breast augmentation, one of the biggest decisions isn’t just the size: it’s where the implant sits. While there are several ways to position an implant, we’re breaking down why Subpectoral (Under the Muscle) is the gold standard at RS Plastic.

Why we recommend Under the Muscle:

A Natural Silhouette: The pectoralis muscle provides a layer of soft padding, making it harder to see or feel the implant edges.

Built-in Support: Unlike breast tissue, which stretches and sags, the muscle provides stable support to lock your results in place for the long term.

Health First: Placing implants under the muscle allows for clearer mammograms and does not delay the diagnosis of breast cancer.

Lower Risk: It significantly reduces the chance of capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening).

The Over the Muscle Exception?

While subglandular (over the muscle) placement offers a slightly faster recovery, it can lead to more sagging and visible rippling over time. The one main exception? Competitive bodybuilders! Because heavy lifting can cause implants to shift, we decide placement for athletes on a case-by-case basis.

Bottom line: Whether you’re looking for a silicone or saline result, the muscle is your best friend for a natural look and feel.

Refinement is never one-size-fits-all.

In this case, two different implant sizes were thoughtfully selected to restore balance and create natural symmetry—tailored precisely to the patient’s anatomy. Subtle adjustments, meticulous planning, and a focus on proportion make all the difference.

The result is not simply enhancement, but harmony.
