Weight can impact how effective emergency contraceptive pills are, but taking any type of emergency contraceptive is better than skipping it and waiting to see if you get your period.

Emergency contraception pills that you can buy over the counter like Plan B One Step, Julie, Take Action or My Way, may be less effective for people over 165 pounds.

Ella, an emergency contraception pill that requires a prescription may be less effective for people over 195 pounds.

Certain IUDs can be inserted as emergency contraception within 5 days of having unprotected in*******se and are very effective for people no matter their weight.

👉 Participate 10-12 hours a week from September 8, 2026 - November 16, 2026

✅ Strengthen public speaking, facilitation, and other communication skills that can be used in future employment.

✅ Develop community organizing and leadership abilities through managing volunteers, planning events, and working with other PPGT department staff or community partners.

✅ Gain a deeper understanding of Planned Parenthood's role in our communities and of outreach & advocacy within a nonprofit 501 c3 organization.
