New research from UTSW Anesthesia! 🩸

Drs. Iqbal Ahmed, Ravi Joshi, and Philip Greilich collaborated on a landmark study published in JAMA showing that refrigerated platelets stored for up to 21 days remained effective for controlling bleeding in pediatric and adult cardiac surgery patients.

Dr. Anupama Wadhwa and Dr. Joy Chen joined colleagues from around the world at the XXIX IFSO World Congress in Toronto, Canada, to present an anesthesia session.

Dr. Wadhwa chaired and moderated the session, joined by fellow UTSW faculty members Dr. Joy Chen and Dr. Anna Tavakoli. We’re proud to see our faculty sharing their knowledge and representing UTSW on an international stage! 💙

Our first featured piece, “Starry Night,” was created by Jacquie and her sons using repurposed anesthesia caps from medication vials that would have otherwise been discarded. Jacquie writes, “It’s been a fun conversational piece that hangs in our dining room.” 💙

We’re excited to share more of the creativity and artwork from our colleagues in the months ahead!
