"I had a knee replacement 10 years ago back home. The care I got in Mexico was far beyond what I expected!"

That's what one of our patients told us. A Canadian who'd been waiting almost a year for his second joint replacement before deciding to look elsewhere.

He's not alone. Right now, the average Canadian waits 48+ weeks for a hip or knee replacement.

For someone in their 70s, that's a big piece of the mobile, independent years they have left!

We sat down with Dr. Max Greig, an orthopedic surgeon in Puerto Vallarta, and three of his Canadian patients to hear the whole story: why they made the trip, what surprised them, and what recovery actually looked like!

"When we started, people said it was a scam. Now doctors call us every week asking us to teach them!"

That's what Dr. Venkatesh Movva told us on the latest episode of The Medical Tourism Podcast. 🎙️

Dr. Movva has spent over 30 years in sports medicine, treating everyone from NFL players to grandparents who just want to play with their grandkids without knee pain.

His approach: use your own body's stem cells and platelets to heal joints, instead of jumping straight to surgery! ✨

We talked to him about a question a lot of our followers ask us:

"Is it too late for me? I've had this pain for years."

His answer might surprise you.

Even patients with years of untreated arthritis or old injuries have real options, and many are avoiding knee replacement or hip replacement surgery entirely.

A few things we cover in this episode:
🔬 The real difference between PRP and stem cell therapy

🦵🏻 Why waiting years to treat joint pain makes things harder (but not hopeless)

💌 A study of 195 patients that changed how his clinic treats early-stage joint damage

✈️ What it's actually like to travel to Dallas or India for this kind of care

Dr. Movva runs clinics in both Dallas, Texas and India, and Medical Tourism Corporation has spent the last 18+ years making sure patients know exactly who to trust when they travel for care like this.

We're not just a booking agency. We're the people who do the homework so you don't have to.

No research on a full-mouth restoration journey in Hanoi is complete without understanding what it's really like to make the trip!

Meet Ryan Muggeridge, a truck driver from New Zealand who hadn't had a full set of teeth in 34 years.

After decades of low self-esteem and dodging family photos, he traveled solo for a life-changing smile makeover in Hanoi, Vietnam.

All-on-4 configurations start at USD $5,500, and All-on-6 at USD $8,500.

✈️ Full Travel Support: From airport pickups to daily text check-ins, our all-inclusive support ensures you are never alone.

Quick question: if someone told you Botox was invented to treat crossed or misaligned eyes and not wrinkles, would you believe them?✨

It's true! Before it became famous for smoothing out forehead wrinkles, Botox was developed for strabismus, a condition in which the eyes don't line up properly!

Doctors would inject it directly into the eye muscles to weaken the ones pulling the eye out of alignment. 💉

The anti-wrinkle effect wasn't even the point, it was discovered by accident, years after the treatment was already helping patients see straight!

💙 We learned this from Dr. Arturo Castellanos, an ophthalmologist in Cancun who's spent over 30 years treating this exact condition. He's done more than 20,000 eye surgeries with a complication rate under 1%, and one thing that stuck with us: strabismus is a lot more common than people think, affecting an estimated 7-8% of people worldwide.

But finding a surgeon who actually specializes in it? That's the hard part, no matter where you live!

💰 That scarcity is a big reason patients end up traveling for care like this. Strabismus surgery in Mexico costs around $3,000, compared to $6,000-$8,000 in the US.

👁️ We sat down with Dr. Castellanos for our podcast and asked him everything: what's exaggerated about eye surgery in Mexico, what's actually true, and what he'd tell a nervous first-time patient. You can watch the full conversation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl2F_Exb6kw

Have you or someone you know dealt with strabismus or considered eye surgery abroad? We'd love to hear your story in the comments. 💬

"I got my gastric sleeve surgery for $3,500. Three nights in Tijuana. They picked me up, dropped me off. Mexico is so much better than the USA for elective surgery."
Johnna G., Medical Tourism Co's, Patient Review

Angie got 9 porcelain crowns in Mexico in just 4 nights. Dawn had her cosmetic surgery coordinated start to finish: no stress, no guesswork! Kathleen flew to Croatia for dental implants with free airport transfers and accommodation. Nik paid $1,000 in Thailand for the same dental work that would've cost $6,000+ in the US.

This is what affordable medical tourism with us actually looks like! Board-certified doctors, personal case workers, and full trip coordination across 50+ countries.

At Medical Tourism Corporation, we've been helping patients access low-cost dental work abroad, weight loss surgery overseas, and international cosmetic procedures for over 18+ years!

Most of us trying to cook healthy meals for our families are making one invisible mistake that could impact our long-term heart health. ⚠️

A major new medical study tracking 257 individuals found that more than half of them had microscopic plastic particles trapped in their arteries. Even worse, having these microplastics in the body was linked to a 4.5 times higher risk of a heart attack or stroke.

🔎 The culprit? Every day, kitchen items like plastic cutting boards and plastic microwave containers shed microplastics directly into our food.

The good news is that you can protect your family immediately with a few simple swaps, like switching to wood cutting boards and glass containers. 🤍

She came back from Mexico with a new dental crown.

Three years later, it came loose. When her American dentist examined it, he didn't question her decision to go abroad.

He instead wanted to know exactly which clinic made it.

"It was beautiful work," he said. ✨

Then added: "What we have here in the States is an insurance circus." 🇺🇸

That's a quote from a licensed US dentist.

And it's just one moment from the debut episode of the Medical Travel Abroad Podcast.

A new show from Medical Tourism Corporation (MTC), the Texas-based company that has been helping patients access affordable dental and medical care internationally since 2007. 💙

Episode 1 features four real patients talking about their experiences with dental tourism in Mexico.

What procedures they had, what they paid, how the quality held up over time, and what their doctors said when they got back home.

If you've ever asked "Is dental work in Mexico actually good?" or "What happens if something goes wrong after you come home?"
This episode answers both.

What if the same surgery cost five times less and included your hotel? 💰

That's not an exaggeration. A nose job in London runs £7,000 to £13,000. The same procedure in Istanbul, with accommodation and aftercare, costs only €2,900–€4,500.

MTC just published a new analysis of Turkey's cosmetic surgery market.

🚀 Over 1.1 million procedures happen there every year. The industry is worth $3.5 billion and growing fast. And the price gap between Turkey and Western countries? Keeps getting wider!

MTC's report also covers which clinics are accredited, the safety record, and why more people from the US and UK are making the trip.

From Saskatchewan to Cancun: Why Lindsay chose Mexico for her double knee replacement. 🇨🇦✈️🇲🇽

Lindsay Crutch was tired of the long waitlists and the physical toll of living with chronic pain in Regina. Instead of waiting years for relief, she made a life-changing decision to fly to Cancun for bilateral knee replacement surgery, getting both knees restored in a single trip with Dr. Jesus Raul Arjona. 💙

What Lindsay found in Mexico wasn’t just a more affordable option; it was a level of communication and care that exceeded her expectations. Dr. Arjona didn't just perform the surgery, he personally walked her through every step of the procedure and recovery, providing the kind of thoroughness that gave her total peace of mind. ✨

Supporting her every step of the way was her coordinator, Mario Bruno, who Lindsay says was 'on the ball' with every appointment and airport transfer, ensuring she never felt alone in the process.

💰 For many North Americans, the cost of joint replacement back home is the biggest barrier. While bilateral surgery in the U.S. often exceeds $60,000 and private options in Canada start around $33,000 CAD, Lindsay’s all-inclusive package in Cancun started at approximately $24,000 USD.

This covers everything from the surgeon’s fees, a 3–5 day hospital stay, anesthesia, high-quality implants, medications, to even the physiotherapy needed to get her back on her feet.

Recovery from a bilateral procedure is a journey that takes time, usually 6 to 12 weeks for a return to daily activities but for Lindsay, the results were worth every moment of rehab. She’s now walking proof that you don’t have to stay on a waitlist to get your quality of life back. 🪄

If you’ve been putting off surgery because of the price tag or a long hospital queue, Lindsay’s honest review is a must-watch.
