EMDR can be incredibly powerful, but many people are surprised by what happens between sessions.

You may feel more tired. More emotional. More sensitive. You may notice vivid dreams, unexpected memories, or shifts in your nervous system that seem confusing at first.

That doesn't automatically mean something is wrong.

EMDR works by helping the brain and body process experiences that may have remained unresolved for years. As those survival patterns begin to move, your system may temporarily feel different before it feels lighter.

This is why trauma healing is never just about insight.

It's also about regulation, grounding, and creating enough safety for the nervous system to process what it once had to suppress.

My Loves, healing is not measured by how comfortable it feels.

Healing is measured by your growing capacity to stay connected to yourself through the process. 🕊️

Have you ever experienced unexpected emotions or dreams during trauma healing?

PTSD & CPTSD Awareness Month

My Loves, trauma isn't just in your head. It's a physical contraction in your cells. You can't talk your way out of a survival loop that your body is using to keep you alive. We have to unwire the tissue to reclaim your true frequency.

When the body experiences chronic stress, abuse, neglect, or overwhelming events, it adapts for survival. The nervous system becomes trapped in protective states, either hypervigilance and activation (fight or flight) or shutdown and collapse (freeze and dorsal vagal withdrawal).

Over time, these survival responses become embodied.

The fascia begins to hold patterns of contraction.

The psoas muscle, one of the body's primary survival muscles, remains chronically engaged.

Breathing becomes shallow.

The body stays prepared for danger long after the threat has passed.

This is why so many people say:

"I know I'm safe, but my body doesn't believe it."

Because trauma is not simply a story. It is an architecture.

It lives in the tissues, the posture, the nervous system, and the unconscious survival patterns that continue running beneath awareness.

Healing requires more than insight.

It requires helping the body experience safety again.

It requires unwiring the contraction, releasing stored survival responses, and creating new pathways for regulation, connection, and choice.

For those living with PTSD or CPTSD, know this:

Your symptoms are not signs of weakness.

They are signs of a nervous system that adapted brilliantly to survive.

And what was learned in survival can be transformed through healing.

This PTSD & CPTSD Awareness Month, may we remember that true healing happens when the mind, body, and nervous system are invited back into relationship with one another.

Where does your body store its survival bracing the most?
Let’s talk about the unwiring below.

It's the middle of the week.

Before you move on to the next task, the next responsibility, or the next thing demanding your attention, check in with yourself.

What are you carrying right now that isn't yours to hold?

Many people think exhaustion comes from doing too much.

Sometimes it comes from holding too much other people's emotions, expectations, disappointments, and needs.

A regulated nervous system knows the difference.

What is one thing you can put down today? 🌿

This is more than a book about recovery—it's an invitation to reclaim your power, rebuild self-trust, and create a life rooted in freedom, choice, and Radical Aliveness. 🦁✨

June isn't asking you to become more.

It's asking you to come home to yourself. 🕊

Halfway through the year, many people start measuring their progress, comparing timelines, or judging where they think they "should" be.

But healing doesn't happen on a schedule.

This month, instead of asking:
"Am I doing enough?"

Try asking:
"What do I need?"

The more regulated your nervous system becomes, the easier it is to hear your own truth beneath the noise.

What's one thing you're choosing for yourself this June? 🌿

Healing is not always soft, peaceful, or aesthetically pleasing.

Sometimes trauma healing looks like grief.
Like loneliness.
Like setting boundaries your nervous system was once terrified to set.

Sometimes personal growth feels like losing old identities before discovering who you truly are underneath survival mode.

Nobody talks enough about the uncomfortable side of healing:
the identity shifts,
the nervous system dysregulation,
the emotional exhaustion,
or the grief that comes with outgrowing old versions of yourself.

But that does not mean you are failing.

It means your body is learning a new way to exist. 🕊️

Real healing is not becoming someone new.
It is returning to the self beneath the trauma responses, masking, and survival adaptations.

Your body remembers.

The version of you that once struggled to survive this season of life would be amazed by who you are becoming today.

Pause for a moment and acknowledge that. ✨

Every time you choose regulation over self-destruction…
truth over masking…
presence over escape…
Your entire relational world shifts.

The nervous system of a healed person changes families, friendships, partnerships, and future generations.

You may never fully see the ripple effect of your healing.
But it exists. 🕊

Keep going. Someone else may find hope because you did.
