As a Dallas couples therapist and divorce coach, I often find myself saying this in session:
Stress flourishes in the space between where we are and where we think we should be. That gap can feel relentless.
Be it where we thought we’d be in our marriage, in our careers, or overall in our lives, when reality doesn’t match the expectation - stress fills the space. Not because something is wrong, but because we’re measuring ourselves against a timeline, a standard, or a story that may no longer fit.
What if, instead of fighting where you are, you got curious about it? What if you allowed this moment to be part of the path, not proof that you’re off track?
Because sometimes, peace isn’t found in catching up to where you think you “should” be. It’s found in meeting yourself exactly where you are. 🙏
