Something I’ve been working on over the past few months is learning how to introduce myself.

I know that probably sounds a little crazy 😂 But when you wear a lot of hats, it can be surprisingly hard to come up with a succinct version of who you are without sounding like you’re giving someone your entire résumé.

So… hi. I’m Ahou. 👋🏼

I do a lot of different things, but at the heart of it, I’m passionate about play therapy, helping professionals strengthen their work with parents, and being a mom.

Those pieces of my life show up in so many different ways around here, and I’m so glad you’re here for it.

✨So many play therapists are taught how to work effectively with children, but very rarely are we taught how to navigate conversations with parents and caregivers. This leaves play therapists with the huge task of figuring out this skill on the job. Often times, this leads to many of us avoiding parent meetings all together.

With so many new faces around here, ✨allow me to re introduce myself!✨

✨My name is Ahou, and I’m a play therapist and counselor educator who is passionate about supporting practitioners in their work with parents and caregivers. I currently practice and see clients in 📍Dallas, TX.

➡️I am a mom of 2 (that still sounds so wild to say) with a 4.5 year old and a 3 month old. Becoming a parent has only intensified my passion about this topic!

➡️I recently published a textbook with and as a result, have received some incredible opportunities to speak and present (including getting to be a part of the Key Note at APT this year).

➡️A little over a year ago, I started this account, and as a true millennial, am trying to figure out this whole social media thing. It has been such a blast getting to use this as a creative outlet (but also really terrifying).

➡️I created an online library of APT Approved trainings and resources created to support therapists in their work with parents… and…

➡️ON FRIDAY, I will be releasing my newest resource that you won’t want to miss.
