When Post-TAVR Monitoring Becomes More Than a Test

A de-identified real-world case showing what can happen when live ECG data, rapid response, physician
judgment, and patient support all work together.

This is what real-time Post-TAVR monitoring is supposed to do.
A recent Post-TAVR patient began with a documented post-procedure baseline of normal sinus rhythm at 65
bpm. Over the following days, the picture changed. The monitor captured 3rd-degree AV block, 2nd-degree
AV block type 2 with rates falling into the low 30s, ventricular tachycardia, a significant pause, and a minimum
heart rate of 28 bpm.

But detection is only part of the story. In six critical-alert examples from this case, our alert-to-call response
times ranged from 1 to 7 minutes, with an average of 3 minutes and a median of 2 minutes. Earlier alerts
were reviewed by the treating physician, who elected to continue monitoring based on the patient's clinical
status at those times. Later, the physician directed hospital evaluation.

That same evening, a damaged charging connection threatened the monitoring phone. Our team contacted
the patient, texted charging instructions and photos, worked directly with her son to restore charging,
communicated with the physician, relayed the physician's hospital instructions, and confirmed that live ECG
readings were still being received.
The patient ultimately received a pacemaker. The end-of-study report was completed within hours of the test
ending.

THE 90-SECOND ALERT WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING.

In a recent de-identified case, a patient wearing a Specialized Medical live-streaming cardiac monitor developed supraventricular tachycardia at approximately 190–210 beats per minute.

Our monitoring team immediately sent the approximately 90-second concerning report to the medical office and physician.

But the ECG never stopped streaming—and our team could see that the rhythm had not stopped either. The patient remained in sustained SVT.

We called the physician a second time and reported that the tachycardia was still ongoing. The physician instructed the patient to call 911.

Our monitoring team then called the patient to confirm that the monitor was still being worn and would remain connected. The fire department was already at the patient’s home and spoke directly with our team.

We explained that the patient was wearing a live-streaming cardiac monitor and that we were actively watching the ECG. First responders confirmed that they were administering IV adenosine.

We continued watching the patient’s rhythm live and saw the heart rate slow and return toward baseline following treatment.

This is the difference between simply recording an event and staying connected throughout the emergency:

Executive Summary

Specialized Medical performed a de-identified operational review of serious CALL LEVEL arrhythmia activity during selected higher-heat review periods. The review found a meaningful rise in the normalized serious-alert rate index during the higher-heat period, while documented response performance remained rapid and consistent.

The central message is not that heat caused the observed arrhythmias. Rather, the review highlights why real-time ambulatory ECG monitoring matters during high-risk periods: clinically important rhythm disturbances can be detected, reviewed, documented, and escalated while patients remain outside the healthcare facility.

This paper is based on a de-identified operational analysis cohort from the selected review period. To protect patient privacy and preserve customer-level confidentiality, monitoring case volume is presented using normalized index values rather than absolute monthly case counts
The use of indexed values does not change the core analytical comparison. It allows the review to show the relationship between higher-heat periods, serious CALL LEVEL arrhythmia activity, and Specialized Medical’s documented response performance without disclosing patient-identifiable, customer-specific, or organization-specific information.
Operational Review Design

The review evaluated serious CALL LEVEL alerts from an operational monitoring log during April through early July 2026. Serious alert activity was normalized against the de-identified analysis cohort and displayed as an index. The heat trend was estimated using a de-identified geographic heat proxy aligned to the review period.

Response performance was evaluated using the documented interval from alert upload time to cleared status in the operational log. This timing field is used as the available operational proxy for alert handling and documentation completion.

• The normalized serious CALL LEVEL alert-rate index increased during higher-heat review periods.
• The monitoring cohort is intentionally presented as indexed data, not raw volume.
