Funeral Fact Friday:

In Ghana, West Africa, fantasy coffins are handcrafted works of art designed to reflect a person’s life, occupation, personality, or dreams for the afterlife.

These unique coffins can take the shape of an airplane, a car, a fish, an eagle, and even a chicken! Each design celebrates the life and legacy of the person who has passed.

The National Museum of Funeral History is home to the largest collection of fantasy coffins outside of Ghana!

Community Connections Thursday:

On this beautiful day, we’re looking back on a very special day in our community.

We were proud to have a table at the Stand Down in Danbury, an event that connects veterans with valuable resources, services, and support. It was a great opportunity to show our appreciation for those who have served.

Pictured are John Falkowski, Mayor Roberto Alves, and Kelly Coughlin.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our local veterans and the organizations that serve them.

Time to Talk Tuesday | Week 2

6 Reasons Prepaid Funerals Are the Best Gift

Reason #2: Your children won’t have to find a way to pay for your funeral.

You may not be able to shield your children, family members, or other loved ones from the emotional difficulty of losing you, but you can help prevent them from having to worry about the financial burden at the same time.

After a death, assets may not be immediately available, and life insurance can take weeks to pay. Without a prepaid plan in place, your family or loved ones may be responsible for covering funeral expenses before services take place.

Pre-planning and prepaying can help relieve that burden.

Funeral Fact Friday:

In the 19th century, some graves were protected by heavy iron cages called mortsafes. They were designed to prevent body snatchers from stealing the recently buried dead and selling them to medical schools for anatomy lessons.

Because the legal supply of human remains was limited, grave robbing became a serious concern. Families and communities used these iron barriers to protect their loved ones.

Britain's Anatomy Act of 1832 expanded the legal supply of bodies for medical education, helping reduce the demand for illegally obtained remains.

Time to Talk Tuesday: This week, we're kicking off a six-week series highlighting six reasons why preplanning a funeral may be one of the greatest gifts you can give your loved ones.

Reason #1: You get to choose exactly what you want.

Pre-planning your funeral allows you to carefully consider your options and make the choices that ensure that your life is remembered and celebrated the way that you want. Even if you tell your family about your end-of-life wishes, they may not remember or agree. The only way to know for sure that you will get a cremation with a celebration of life by the lake or a New Orleans-style jazz procession is by planning in advance.

Over the next six weeks, we’ll be sharing one reason each week why preplanning can bring peace of mind to you and those you love.

We were honored to be part of a special farewell for a remarkable woman whose life touched so many.

The horse-drawn carriage was a fitting tribute to a woman who lived a beautiful life filled with generosity, kindness, warmth, and unconditional love.
