This is an amazing opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a Medical Assistant.

Washington County Community College is offering a Registered Apprenticeship Program, paid for by Harold Alfond Center, that allows individuals interested in becoming a Medical Assistant. You must be a Maine resident, be 18+ years old, and have a high school diploma or equivalent to qualify.

Phase 1 offers a weekly stipend while Phase 2 offers a paid apprenticeship all while getting certified.

Today is Medical Assistant Recognition Day as part of Medical Assistant Recognition Week and we cannot thank our MA’s enough for all they do for our health center and patients that we serve. It’s more than just rooming a patient and taking vitals, it’s assisting providers, assisting patients outside of visits, referrals, prior authorizations, volunteering in community events, and so much more.

If you have MaineCare, you may have heard about changes coming to MaineCare eligibility in 2027. These changes only affect adults who have MaineCare through MaineCare Expansion*.

❗️Most MaineCare members do not have to worry about the changes. About 4 out of 5 current MaineCare members will not be affected because they are:
-Children under age 19
-Eligible for MaineCare because they are pregnant or were pregnant
-Eligible for MaineCare because of a disability (also called SSI-related MaineCare)
-Receiving long-term care services
-Receiving limited MaineCare coverage, such as Drugs for the Elderly or Disabled (DEL) coverage, Special Benefits Waiver, or the Limited Family Planning Benefit

October is the best month to get your annual flu shot. The flu vaccine is most effective for 3-4 months so getting vaccinated between mid-September or October gives you protection that will last through the peak flu season in January and February!

We have doses available for those 6 months and older. As well as high dose vaccines for those 65+
