During a recent voyage, a crew member on a cargo vessel developed signs of hypovolemic shock secondary to upper gastrointestinal bleeding. The vessel was days from its next scheduled port, putting shore based medical access out of reach. Through VIKAND Connect, the OneHealth by VIKAND telehealth team conducted a real time remote assessment, recognised the risk of rapid deterioration and issued emergency medical instructions to stabilise the patient while preparations were made for evacuation.

A decisive, coordinated response turned what could have been a fatal event into a life saving one.
