Well everyone. With all the commotion going on not even 3 hours later "yellow tag" become a first time heifer to a beautiful baby heifer calf. Super healthy and successful calving. When I found her she was starting to push. Not even 5 mins she was cleaning her calf. She let me for the time being walk up and confirm its a girl. But ya never can truly trust them first timers but we have her mother on site and shes calm too. Yellow tag also loves being pet and scratch sessions so she will be a good one to work with as well for many years to come. Wow what an exciting day. 3 heifers to 3 bulls. We still have 5 to go. Any guesses who will take the win for the year?

Today was a day that I learned alot. We can not thank Denis Beachel enough for his knowledge and help on this fine Sunday. The beachel family had purchased burkholders in washingtonville so if you're in there give him a thanks for helping us and heart head today. Heart head started to freshen to only find out the calf was backwards. He dropped what he was doing and came straight over and talked and walked and guided the process on delivering this calf to save "his" life and the mothers. We have been fortunate to have easy successful calving but today was a major learning experience for us and we succefully got ropes on him and delivered the calf. Momma is cleaning. He is alert and still being cleaned and soon to be feeding. Thank you again so much for your help Denis. We appreciate you.

Brownies baby in the first Pic is a bull calf. Well. Now soon to be steer. Then this morning no name had her second calf on the farm and low and behold a bull calf and a very big healthy one at that. Also is now banded. The last two pics is infact really roundy round pants and yep. She is definitely really round again this year. We made 1100 bales of hay yesterday and everyone is at the buffet 🤣🤣. 3 down 8 more to freshen.

So this is brownie. Aka brown cow. Shes been my "curt" favorite cow since she came to the farm. We rest together. We push and play together and we get good pet and scratch sessions in. Last year everyone except her had a calf. Not sure if she miscarried early, didnt take or what. But we could tell by watching her just how bad she wanted to be a mom and could see the hurt in her eyes when the time never came. Everyone gets second chances here. Well brownie. Tonight we celebrate you as a first time heifer and becoming a mommy. Very deserved as you've been waiting 2 long years for this. Her motherly instincts were immediate and she is non stop cleaning and talking to her calf. Give it up for brownie for doing a fantastic job all on her own.

Good news. We have dates set for 2 pigs and 2 big fat happy steers for beginning of july. So everyone thats been waiting for steaks and burger and patties and hot dogs. They're coming 💪💪💪💪. Oh and 100 more chickens too.
