If I could retire one phrase forever, it would be: “Your baby is gaining weight, so everything is fine.” 🙃

Yes, weight gain matters—but it doesn’t tell the whole feeding story.

And oh! If your baby is already being supplemented with bottles… they are going to be gaining weight 😉 while the root feeding issue is still being missed.

A baby can gain weight and still have:
✨ poor latch
✨ painful feeds
✨ clicking at the breast
✨ refluxy / colicky behavior
✨ gas + fussiness
✨ long exhausting feeds
✨ body tension
✨ constant feeding

If feeding feels hard, stressful, or like something is being overlooked… trust that feeling.

You deserve support that looks deeper than the scale. 💛

Need help figuring out what’s really going on? I offer 1:1 feeding consults. Most insurance plans accepted.

Most moms are told reflux is just something babies “grow out of”…

But what I see in practice every day is that reflux is often a symptom of something deeper going on 🤍

When babies have tension in their body, a shallow latch, or are taking in excess air during feeds, it can create pressure in their system…
→ leading to spit up, discomfort, arching, and fussiness

That’s why I always look at:
✨ feeding mechanics
✨ latch + oral function
✨ body tension + nervous system
✨ oversupply / flow

Because when you address the root cause, babies often become more comfortable, feeds feel easier, and everyone gets more rest

If your baby is struggling with reflux, gas, or feeding challenges—
you’re not doing anything wrong 🤍

We just have to find the “why” behind it all.

Why doctors say babies have “reflux” 👶🏻💭
Because when a baby spits up, arches, or seems uncomfortable after feeds, it looks like reflux — and it technically is. The milk is coming back up the esophagus.

But what’s often missed is why it’s happening.
Most babies don’t have a true medical reflux disease — they have:
💨 Air swallowed during feeding from a shallow or inefficient latch
👅 Oral tension or tongue tie causing poor seal + gulping air
🍼 Fast flow bottles or oversupply leading to overwhelm
🧠 Nervous system tension that affects digestion and swallowing coordination

So yes, the symptom looks like reflux…
But the root cause is almost always related to feeding mechanics — not an acid problem.

And that’s why treating it with meds usually doesn’t fix it.
We have to address the latch, function, and body tension to truly help these babies feel better ❤️

We don’t just treat the symptom… we find the root cause ❤️
