Six weeks ago Clarissa walked through our doors as a student.

Today she walks out as a certified Somatic Energy and Sound Healer.

For her graduation recital she held space for eight people including her own mom and husband, guiding them through a full sound healing session and offering individual somatic energy healing to each person.

Watching her move through that room with such confidence, such presence, such genuine care — this is exactly why we do this work.

At Kapwa Wellness we have a blessings tree where our community writes their prayers and gratitude throughout the year.

And every month, we offer them to the fire 🔥

Watching each prayer rise as smoke is a reminder that our words have weight. That gratitude is a practice. That releasing something to the fire doesn’t mean letting it go — it means trusting it to something larger than ourselves.

Just a few hours ago we threw our first ever Halo, Halo! Summer Party at Kapwa Wellness — and it was everything. Games, laughter, Filipino sweet treats, and a room full of people who showed up for each other.

Halo-halo isn’t just a dessert. It’s a philosophy. Every ingredient keeps its own identity AND becomes something better when it mingles with everything else. Sound familiar? That’s kapwa.

That’s what our sacred space is built on.

Yes, there’s a lizard inside Kapwa Wellness.

On purpose. 🦎

The opening footage was sent to me by my cousin in the Philippines — a small act of love across an ocean. Salamat, cousin ❤️🇵🇭

In Filipino tradition, the butiki — the house lizard — is considered a guardian, a small protector of the home. This brass butiki has lived on our wall at Kapwa Wellness since the day we opened. From it hang our bathroom keys — Ate for the women, Kuya for the men. Older sister. Older brother. The respectful way we call to each other in Filipino culture.

Kapwa means interconnectedness — the recognition that we share the same humanity. Every detail in this space was chosen with that in mind.
